A Big question, who is your choice?

And it has to be someone who was actually performed at Pools. For example; Ray Kennedy was a fine player in his day for Liverpool and Arsenal but was knackered when he came to Pools.

Those two in reverse order would be my choice.

OK there are a lot of holes in my history of actually seeing Pools so I can't include the likes of Jan Ove.
So I'll go for a blast from the past with Amby Fogarty, though a feeling tells me that Gary Liddle is on the verge of becoming a major Pools star and legend.

I think Dimi has been a great keeper in his time at Pools.

I'm with Monty on this one.
I never saw Pedersen, but heard great reports.
Tommy Miller looked a class apart in his latter days at Pools,
but for pure skill, there's only one Ambrose Fogarty who
shone in a pretty crap Pools team

Goals are the most important part of a game so I guess Joe Allon is in there.

And signing him was a major coup and bank breaker at the time. It would be a bit like the current pools signing Paul Scholes.
Whoops :uhoh:

Mickey Barron.

Ritchie Humphries.

You decide, I can't.

Although I sway in the direction of Ritchie.

I can't believe Marco and Eifion have been suggested.

Jan Ove was awesome, so was Gordon Watson and Adam Boyd.

Jan Ove or Watson. Consistently showed that they were a class apart

Players like Boyd, Miller, Dimi, Eiffion, Porter have all had periods were they contributed nothing. Watson and Jan Ove were superb EVERY time they put a Pools shirt on

Pedersen though? sctatchinghead ....he only played 20 games, so i can't see how he would be in the running IMO.

Boydy or Joe Allon for me.Can't decide between the two.

I may get shot for a few of these but:

1. Humphreys
2. Miller
3. McKinnon
4. Jan Ove Pederson
5. Joel Porter

It's all about what contibutes to making them the best, for me Humphreys is the best as he is the definition of a sportman. He is always fit and is very talented and has adapted well to numerous positions.

By "best ever Pools player" I think he meant by ability and ability alone.

If thats true then Humphreys should be no where to be seen.

If for professionalism, loyalty, effort etc then top all the time.

He has the ability to run and outmuscle people. See ability isn't just fancy tricks.

first ... Richie Humphreys.
second ... Rob Mckinnon.

look past the person and look at the player..

Manager ... Danny Wilson ... he has taken this club to another level and will do so again . . perhaps not this or next season .. but when the ground is ours (soon) .... IOR will then start to show their intentions and invest for the very very long term future of Hartlepool United...

Those in the know know... thats why they are hanging around they know what is planned for Hartlepool United and they want to be part of it.

Paul Baker for me - great servant, created loads of chances/goals by taking up intelligent positions beyond the back post - great header of the ball - great technique when connecting with crosses using either head or foot to strike at goal - and always got at least 15/16 goals a season. 100% team player, got stuck in and created great physical presence up front.

That reminds me...

A part timer last season who went to the Port Vale game...went "bloody hell is Barker still here...he must be knocking on a bit now". rolfl
