Their fans reckon that there is a sticking point with the agent wanting too much money. If that is the case then any potential deal with Pools is definitely dead in the water.

Also Boydy has been transfer listed apparently.

That articles says the fee is an initial 200k, we won't match that, I think we've been out of this race for a very long time. Hull seems happy to hang on to him, although if they sign Juninho they'll no doubt want him off the books to free up wages.

I think his agent is going to end up screwing him over.

Apparently 4 clubs interested he'll get pushed about for the best offer and it'll fall through or he'll end up stuck at Hull with a manager who can't rate him that highly warming the bench if he's lucky.

To be honest I'd prefer the money hungry footballers to not sign for us, I'd rather have somebody wants to go places and isn't just bothered about money, lets face it he'll be signing a contract on more money a week than most people earn a month.

Swansea City are edging closer to completing the capture of Hull City striker Darryl Duffy.

Roberto Martinez is keen to sign the 23-year-old permanently after he finished last season on loan at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea are thought to have agreed a £200,000 fee with The Tigers for Duffy but face competition for his signature from Hartlepool United.

However, Duffy favours a return to The Swans this summer and Martinez is confident of sealing the signing later this week.

"I do believe that the positions of the two clubs are closer but we're still in a situation where we don't know exactly what's going to happen," he told the South Wales Evening Post.

"What I do know is that Darryl really wants to come to us even though he has been approached by three other clubs.

"I don't know if those clubs have bid more than we have for him, I just know he wants to join us and that gives me a lot of confidence.

"I think that by Friday we will know what's happening because any later than that will not be good for Darryl or ourselves."

As far as I am aware we nearly signed duffy for £100k approx just after his loan spell finished but his agent was being an arse an wanting £2500 minimum per week - it may have been £3500 - we baulked at that - obviously - and off he went to swansea - where his form has put his price up. a wanted man will not come cheap and we can only have a wage bill in accordance with league rules.

It's clear now after getting rid of williams x2, proc, tinks, dimi, clarke, prov - all high earners or long servants that we have freed up some cash to afford some wages.

mmmm - on it goes

Your telling me...

To be honest, I was looking forward to Duffy joining Swansea today so it could finally finish. I want him to join Swansea so I can have a rest from hearing his name.

Swansea put bids in for Leighton James and Duffy at the same time.

They are still waiting on Duffy.

Update: Duffy has now apparantly gone to Italy with the Hull squad.

But the local radio says he'll be joining Swansea soon.

But then again somebody reckons he has gone to Italy to try and impress Phil Brown one last time and work his way into Brown's plans. Swansea are his second choice if he doesn't impress Brown. We are his last choice.
