Morning,
A Gurka who got the VC in the 2nd World War, has applied to the UK to move over here, as he has diabetes, heart and general health problems. He lives without electric and toilets in Nepal and wants to get health care over here. He has been refused as he doesnt have relatives or connections to the UK.
This country and govt should be ashamed, this man fought in Burma with us against the Japanese. Took out a machine gunner and was willing to sacrafice his life for us.
Sign the petition to get him over here.

signed up too. My old man served with the Gurkha's on 2 occasions in Hong kong and Brunei and I count myself as lucky to have had the priviledge to have met so many of them.

When you think about the number of spongers in this country and yet a true patriot is treated like this....................but does it surprise me, of course not. banghead

My grandad fought with the Gurkhas in Burma during WW2, and he has nothing but complete and utter respect for them.

Who makes the decisions about whether someone is worthy or not?

Some faceless little wanker with a tick list who came straight from school into the FCO and hasn't ever seen real people close up. Wouldn't know a VC if you pulled him through with one, which someone should.

The trouble is, the appeal goes through and his case is sent back to that faceless civil servant in Nepal who could knock him back again. This needs the minister Liam whatshisname to override it and make a special case.
Perhaps a email/letter to your mp letting him know you care.

I spent a couple of days in Darjeeling and come 8-9 o'clock in the evening the town was notoriously dead ....

EXCEPT for the ghurka restaurants and bars. Boy do they enjoy a piss up and a sing song.

Why use the noble VC, rusty barbed wire would be more suitable!
