thats the question i got asked by my southern mates and cousins why i have bread and butter with everything also they find it highly emusing that when i have curry sauce with my chips i pour it all over them, they said i should "dip" the chips in which i replied whats the point isnt it the same they just laughed at me am i missing something there?

When i was about 18, i went to stay with my dad when he had a pub in Leicester Square.He took me out for summat to eat at a chinese restaurant in Chinatown one day, we sat down and the waiter came over and asked what i wanted, i said "Egg fried rice, Curry and Chips" my dad nearly fell off his fooking chair!!!...he said "this isn't fooking Hartlepool you know, this is a real Chinese and the Chinese don't eat fooking Chips" :roll:

What us Southerner's find funny about the North is Lunch is called Dinner, Dinner is called Tea, you don't have gravy anywhere near a meal that has chips and you have red sauce with everything even a Sunday Roast.

The good bit's, your fish in the chippies comes with no skin on it, patties are nice even cheese ones, you can get a decent pint for a decent price still served in a working mans club and I have never seen a pea ball on sale anywhere in the North East.

My brother in law used to have half a loaf of bread and butter with his Sunday Dinner.

I've seen him make Yorkshire Pudding sarnies. :roll:

Why find it funny when it's correct....those ladies in the school playground are always called 'dinner ladies' not 'lunch ladies' are they? 'Lunch' ....? a social climbing poncey term used by wannabes and trainee snobs ..... and the population of England below Lincoln..I rest my case. :laugh:
