Are we really not going to get a proper goalie in until the first game of the season?---or even worse start off with Smith and god knows who on the bench...

Needs sorting asap --- no excuses please Grayson!

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Smith starts the first game of the season and we get a season long loanee in from a Championship or even PL side.

I can see that too---would have been nice to have gotten sorted before the season starts though ...

What was the guy who kept goal for Leeds in the friendly he was on loan with us last season, or what about getting the guy back from Redcar?

I'd presume that if Smith is goal keeping coach and is earning a salary for that - then we must be getting someone else in for him to coach. Otherwise the world's gone mad eh?

a week to go i,m still easy with it although i wont if we have nobody signed before the yeovil game and not a panic last minute loan or signing either. it just shows to me again that decent keepers do not grow on trees anymore.

I wasn’t impressed with him and that was only the highlights in the Boro game, nearly gifted a goal by trying to dribble the ball then spilled at shot which was straight at him, btw he is Scottish who in the past haven’t exactly covered themselves in glory.

To be fair, the spilled shot wasn't really a fuck up, it was hit hard and the ball was moving a lot as it travelled. To me it was just a standard keepers block, it could have caused more problems trying to hold it.

Straightforward shot into his midriff which he should have held onto, keepers nowadays whether it’s coached into them have a tendency to try and punch the ball out.

I definitely think it's modern coaching.

correct. all todays young keepers seem to play the same way whoever they are. same with dominating there goal area. given the size of most of them it should have been easier than it was for them years ago who did it.

Archie Mair is back in the PFA training camps so doesn't look like he's joining. Paul Farman apparently has an offer on the table but had been holding out for an EFL offer which is looking for unlikely now.

I watched a documentary on You Tube about the Wrecking Crew who were sessions musicians in LA in the 60s and played on so many hit singles. One of the guitarists, Tommy Tedesco played on six consecutive songs of the year. The played the backing tracks for Sinatra, Beach Boys, Monkees Mamas and the Papas, Tina Turner, Righteous Brothers etc etc. Tedesco played the theme tune on Bonanza and many other film and tv shows. The documentary is well worth a watch and makes you realise the sound of the 60s was created by people you've never heard of. Its on You Tube, just search for The Wrecking Crew. I don't seem to be able to make the link work.
