This what a Carlisle fan posted about the Morecambe situation on another Forum.

"As mentioned earlier in thread it seems to be an ‘in thing’ for these owners to just dig the hole deeper and deeper when zero way out of it and none of us know why.

knighton at Carlisle pulled all the same twaddle during 2000-2003 mystery new buyers, genuine buyers put off because waiting months while loads of extra layers and hurdles added, numerous nonsense statements, a constant air of ‘arrogance’ from Knighton to the whole thing with zero benefit to him because financially he was losing not earning money, his stress levels were probably out of control and he probably was miserable most days of the year for 4 years straight…….yet kept going.

i personally think it’s a fear of becoming ‘nothing’ which frightens them more than anything, that today they are the story tomorrow they are the past…..don’t think they can handle the fear of becoming irrelevant"

It's all a very strange world. I've never been driven by money or status, I value a quiet life above anything. To me I always think if I was in that situation I'd be more inclined to err towards dignity and legacy.... How would you want to be remembered... surely you'd think you'd like to be remembered for doing your bit and passing the baton on gracefully. Hey ho, the world of business.

Sounds familiar - can't live with us and can't live without us!

Once you have the ego being stroked and all the publicity that comes with it -must be hard to then disappear back into the wilderness of just another business owner

*disclaimer - I'm obviously guessing that that maybe the case bbolt
