Noticed today that Josh Umerah has dropped down into the National League South by joining Maidenhead.

No real surprise, because it turns out that none of John Askey's 2023/24 squad has progressed their careers beyond National League level - in fact most have dropped into the NLN or NLS.

Not one of them is in the Football League, unless you count Zak Johnson, who had a dozen games for Pools on loan and is still part of Sunderland's U-21 squad. Compare that with where members of Challinor's promotion squad are now and there's no denying that Pools have just been making up the numbers in the NL.

As he says himself, Grayson is pretty much starting from scratch and building his own squad. It'll be more owner stupidity if he isn't just left to get on with it this season. I seriously doubt he can do worse than the last few wasted years.

That's quite a low bar that you've set him

Just give our current manager a year, doesn't matter what is happening after 10 matches, 1/2 way through the season etc.
Let the manager manage the team and give him a year! He is not a bad manager.
Singh is the one to blame for the instability at the club!

Got to agree, let's have the same manger by Xmas at least banghead stability is needed for success not the constant "sack the manager" if results are poor

SG has got to be given the full season for me- it's pretty much his team. Let's see how it plays out.

Of course we're going to lose games and draw games but he's got a chance to change the mindset of the players, given the mass clear out that we've had.

We just need to be competitive and play our own game, rather than worrying about the opposition all of the time. Auld Len used to write games off before we'd kicked off, against the better teams- which is not healthy.

We as a fanbase also need to give the players a bit of leeway too. They play in Div 5 for a reason. However SG has clearly proven in the past at 4 different EFL clubs that he knows how to build a successful team.

Nothing is guaranteed but I hope he gets the town behind him like DC did, and obviously wish him every success.

If the Rajanator is staying - he needs to stand well back and keep well away from team affairs. Let the manager manage and not get the hump should we have a decent season- like he did with DC.

swapping managers has only worked once in recent years so whats the point. keep doing it until something works and at best the club just stagnates as mid table nonentity.
