Pools Shares

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Pools Shares

Postby Kallang Poolie » Mon Jul 21, 2025 4:58 pm

Looking at Pools on companies house, there are quite a lot of shares owned by individuals, other than Raj and Jeff. Does anyone know when this share issue was, and how these shareholders got their shares? Do these shares ever change hands?

I know Brian Clough used to go round the clubs and societies giving a talk and selling them. My old man bought a few and so I'm on the shareholders register.

This in the info from AI on the net,
Hartlepool United Football Club is primarily owned by Clarence 18 Ltd, with Sukhraj Singh holding the controlling interest. The remaining portion is held by numerous fans with legacy shareholdings. Specifically, Clarence 18 Ltd owns 99.6% of the club.
Supporters' Trust and other individuals, a smaller percentage of shares are held by the Supporters' Trust and other individuals who have invested in the club
Hartlepool United, as a limited company, has 2000 £1 shares. These shares were initially offered to form the professional club in 1908.

just wonder if the club could do that again. you could be a shareholder then and tell non shareholders to shut their dirty gobs if they disagree with you.

When HUFC were formed in 1908 the company was floated with 30k shares at 10shillings each. These were voting shares. There have been share issues since but I don’t think they have voting rights. The original shares are still legal but they cannot be bought or sold without the agreement of the board of directors ,that is R/S. I can only assume that R/S holds 51% of the original shares. The rest are held by numerous people and companies.

I have 8 voting shares , these allow me to attend the AGM of the company, apart from that they are of little use other than a talking point.

Does this mean Jeff Stelling has sold his shares to Raj? Jeff's original investment would have been worth more than .something of 1%.

According to Companies House there are 7,002,270 50p shares in the club and Clarence 18 hold 6,942,557 or 99.15%. Jeff Stelling doesn't appear to own any shares directly in the club. Prestige Group hold 2150 shares in Clarence 18 with Jeff Stelling owning 100 shares.

the new hartlepool edition without the chance to build a hotel and go to jail would be replaced by a night out with our owner.

Instead of "Pay Income Tax £200" it would be "Pay Compo for Sacked Managers £200".
