A couple of things I’ve noticed about the Ladies Euros.

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

A couple of things I’ve noticed about the Ladies Euros.

Firstly, all the female commentators are proper darn sarf types. They can’t speak properly. “Gor blimey guv strike a light” that sort of thing.

Secondly, for comedy value the German number 6 is called “Minge”

Almost as bad as women's cricket - that is truly woeful. At least the footballers are remotely athletic

I have to agree, everyone is supposed to like it and give it the same level of credibility as the mens game,…and it means nothing to me….even all the women I know can’t be bothered with it ..I but that’s not surprising.

The Denmark defender, smashing the ball into a teammates face to set up a German goal, was actually hilarious

might do that because its one of the few sports they can show live now. they push all of them that they show themselves. not going to watch it for a single minute just to avoid the wrath of her in the kitchen like last time i put lasses football on. shows a bit when she,d rather watch pools play than members of her own sex.

Apparently viewing figures for England's opening match were down 25% on their opening match in the last Euros.
Also, the Women's Super League viewing figures are down about 35% year in year for the last 3 years too.
So why the saturation TV coverage?

the bbc would be pushing underwater female darts if they got the sole rights to broadcast it.

It's both main terrestrial channels though.
Wouldn't be so bad if there was compulsory shirt removal by goalscorers.

by the look of many of them it would only be popular in hebden bridge or on the isle of lesbos.

Coupled with that we have Wimbledon on BBC 1 and 2 most evenings when ITV have the football. Can't see why BBC don't put most of the tennis on the i-player.

I turned the tv on the other night just as the Italian woman curled a great shot into the top corner of the (Portugal??) opposition goal and thought, "This may be worth watching after all".

After another 5 minutes I realised I had already seen the only highlight and turned it off.

And they want pay parity with men's football???
It's a pity the money they're ploughing into elite women's football isn't distributed fairly across all lower league and grass roots football.

When they draw the crowds men’s football draws week in week out they might have an argument, but they don’t ….and in reality most women aren’t remotely interested in turning up week in week out to support them.

how many watch pools lasses when they are playing. cannot see it being that many away from friends and the family of the players. nothing against the lasses playing if only the publicity they got was in line with the interest.
