Covid masks

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Covid masks

Postby Snowy » Sun Jul 06, 2025 9:19 am

In an hotel last week and came down early for breakfast and a couple were the only other people there and both had blue Covid masks tucked under their chin ….the man got up and went to get some orange juice and pulled his mask up over his face to walk ten feet to top it up and walked back to put his mask under his chin again ….do they know something or are they mad…?
I’ll opt for mad.

I went to Fountains Abbey last week. There was a girl there with full on all black clothing ( Niquab?) and also a black covid mask. She was completely covered in black and it was proper hot too.

if they had not had those masks on you would never have given them a second look. if you want to get noticed its possibly the best thing you can still do. at least nowadays they are as rare as pools signing a 30 goal a season striker.

I think it must be very nervous people worried about other humans. It’s a bit sad.

People wear masks as they can be allergic to dust and all the sh*** in the air, not because of Covid.

They were a German engineer and an English lady….putting a mask on to walk a few feet to get some juice is a bit over the top, then sitting with the mask pulled down under your chin to eat, beggars the question, take it off as it’s serving np purpose whatsoever..

I’d have loved to walk in in a white disposable boiler suit, wellies, long gloves and full face respirator for the reaction….

japanese tourists who come to haworth have worn them for years before covid existed. seems the thing for them and at least they have a fighting chance of not smelling garlic being cooked at some of the cafe,s.

My sister wears a mask if she is feeling a cold coming on rather than breath her germs on others. She works in a pharmacy so I think it makes perfect sense sometimes.

Your being very judgmental mental Snowy, if someone wants to wear a mask so what. Live and let live, why do you call them Covid masks, same masks hospital staff wear ?

Just being truthful, if some one wants to wear a mask hazmat suit or what ever what harm is it doing you Snowy, I would be more concerned if it was a ski mask.

The point I made was someone is sat with a mask on which doesn’t cover their face…then takes a short walk where there are no people and puts his mask up for a 10 second round trip….then takes it off to eat … which most people would find very odd….but that goes right over your head, the irony is lost completely in your rush the be a not so clever dick.
Cue cries of victimisation from the Thai tourist.

I used to have a mate who was a heavy smoker and trying to quit (in the days before vapes were a thing) He tried those nicotine patches, and made a big thing about it. Anyway caught him having a cheeky smoke one lunchtime - so I started taking the piss. To which he turned round and said -
'Its ok, I've taken me patch off, will stick it back on, once I've finished this!'

no a face mask, but wasn,t there a dutch player who wore what looked like swimming goggles when he played. due to having glaucoma i believe, so you never know about anybody when you see em until you know the facts.

A bit more info why he wore them,
Overview
Why was Edgar Davids Wearing Glasses during Matches? | #football | TikTok
The Dutch player known for wearing glasses while playing football is Edgar Davids. He wore them due to glaucoma, a condition that affects the optic nerve. The glasses weren't a fashion statement, but a medical necessity to protect his eyes
