In the hiatus of interest in HUFC created by the owner, I would ask "which Hartlepudlian deserving of an honour missed out?".

The one that sticks out a mile for me was Boss Howard, head of the Tech whose services to education and sport in the town was second to none.

Coincidentally I was watching the local news last night and they were talking about putting up a plaque at Ayresome Park Junior School in the Boro to Don Revie the former England and Leeds Manager who attended there when younger, which made me wonder why there isn't one at the Vic for John McGovern or Cloughie who also went on to much greater achievements?,

Possibly because Cloughie was born and raised in Middlesbrough and played 213 times for the Boro, scoring 197 goals? Think that probably trumps him making his managerial debut at Pools  though there's nothing to stop the club putting something up to commemorate the link.

There's a better case for honouring John McGovern's Hartlepool links - spent most of his childhood in the town, first professional club.
