...tits last night, listening to the Century phone in as I was working. A constant stream of Sunderland supporters proclaiming their faith and fimly convinced that they were on the way up. Then...it dawnwd on me.... contrast that with the Private Fraser attitude that roams this board like a welcome virus in some quarters. By all means whinge when things are going tits up, but this board is so f***ing contrary...we had unyielding, totally illogical support for Scotty when the writing wasn't just on the wall but lit up with neon!!!! Even now it is politely forgotten, yet we have posters examining pedantically every little move and development both on and off the field.
NEVER THOUGHT I'D SAY THIS ....but we could start learning a thing or two from those Sunderland fans and stop whining and adding to the air of 'cleverdickishness' and peevishness that runs rampant on here lately.

Last season Ripper, everybody was struck down by 'rabbits in the headlights' syndrome. There was a collective dismissive hand wave that we would pull through....look what happened. The one good thing to come out of last seasons relegation was the dip in the cold shower that made us relise that nothing can be taken for granted. Wilsons job is to turn the ship around, it's turning now, so would some of the passengers please stop complaing if the turning motion are causing their drinks to spill in the bar....?

Ahem.... I do hope you're not including me in this 'Scotty will be ok' clique. I refused to go to any games when Scott was in charge from November onwards and even before that I was convinced he was dire.

No, it was definitely writing. Blue paint I seem to recall of the spray variety. In fact, looking at the shade of colour used I believe that it was Wilkinson's own brand.

Jack Wilkinson's? I know he wasn't getting a sniff, but that seems a bit drastic!

Jack Wilkinson was sniffing aerosols? No wonder he wasn't getting a game!

The problem last season was that every time the screaming for Scotty's head got louder, he'd come up with a half decent result to quieten down fence sitters like myself. It was the home defeat to Yeovil that changed a lot of your minds (right, Ripper?) but then he went and got a decent draw at Swansea to prolong the agony. It took the Blackpool match to finally put an end to any remaining support (or even neutrality, like mine) that he had.

I can only console myself by telling myself that making my voice heard earlier - and everyone else's for that matter - wouldn't have made the slightest, teeniest bit of difference.
It took a certain ex-mackem to break the hold.
