Featherstone is staying on for another year as player/coach. Thoughts??
Can't believe he hasn't had a Testimonial like.

Well, we need as many players to play for free if things don't go to plan in the next few weeks/months.

Do a job in div 7 to 10.
But div 5 nah.
Maybe leakages news to the players!!

Most likely be the same for Fergy.

Looks like the return to the EFL is just fantasy football.

Apparently the players have all been in direct discussions with the club during the past week so it's not surprising that some things will leak.

One of the conditions he resigned before was being granted a testimonial but nothing has been forthcoming.

he,ll possibly have one pre season and must be happy with his lot. would prefer a situation where he concentrated on his coaching and hang up his boots.

No problem with him staying on as coach, but definitely not as a player, should have been scattered as a player years ago, but he's here, and him staying on a coach, represents some form of continuity, that is sadly lacking at the club.

Echo pretty much everyone above. Happy for him to stay as a coach but would rather he wasn’t a player. If it’s a case where he’s coaching 99% of the time but is registered in case we have an injury crisis fair enough but I don’t want him to be anywhere near starting or even on the bench every week.
He’s been a great player for us but I think Miley has shown he can be Feaths 2.0 now so it’s time to phase him out

The continuity we need on the footballing side should be looking to the future, Parkes, Sherron, Grey, Miley, Mani, not to failing fat has been. Imo.

The board must be confident that there is cash to pay for new contracts.

Might be hoping for a surge in Season Ticket sales for some reason ?

Pretty normal for coaching staff to be registered as players.

There would be a surge if some one from the club cared about the fans, But we all know who thats down to.

usually thats for emergency only and not one of the first names on a team sheet. its like someone appointed as player manager and there appearances tend to get less during the season to end up none at all. are pools going to buck the trend i wonder.

If that's true Mutters, the main point is that there IS going to be another year for HUFC, never mind Featherstone.

I don't see the issue with him being registered as a player and coach. If we have 3-4 decent midfielders for next season he'll only be there as a back-up.

That's what he should have been this season just gone, but Sarll signed a shower of shit in midfield apart from Sheron.

Same reason Feaths was re-signed the year before - he was a better bet than Keiran Wallace and Matty Dolan!

you could not have put the bar lower than those two to compare him with. wallace was the new williams and wonder how much he has actually earned from the club per minute he was on the pitch. if a kid asked you what still life was just say the words matty dolan.

Dolan hardly got a decent run in the side for us in his midfield position, he was in and out of the side and swapped between CB and midfield.
A league below us but he's had a decent season for Spennymoor and will likely have a decent game in their midfield at Wembley tomorrow.
Every opposition manager in our Div will know that with Fev in the team everything will be slow, sideways passing, easy to get past and away from. We can see it so I'm sure scouts can too.

Dolan was immobile shite, I still haven’t forgiven him for Crawleys 2nd goal in that relegation game, another desperate signing who saw us coming for a free pay day for another year

You do talk some absolute bollocks  Dolan started 1 game out of 46 the season before last, neither Askey nor Phillips would touch him with a barge pole.

The year before he only started 8 games after joining in January and his longest spell in the side was 4 games. Is that the 'decent run' you're on about? stpid

You're hatred of Feaths is pathological - you should see a doctor about it.

His longest run in the team was 4 games - proves my point, he didn't get a decent run.
My opinion (why would I hate him) is because I think he's been part of the reason our midfield has been virtually non existent for years. Not many managers who keep building a midfield around him have lasted long in recent seasons have they? And to play a man who can't tackle as a holding midfielder was embarrassing, imo of course.
Other opinions are available of course, but remember that's all they are, opinions.
