I wonder what has brought about the comment about the financial contribution of The Board?

Aye, the old line about us being mushrooms and of being kept in the dark and shit up on certainly applies to us.
Sometimes it seems everyone knows something except the fans.

if they cannot pass it now what chance would they have when things get tightened up as they want it to happen.

The truth is Gateshead are exceeding expectations just by being in the NL. Their gates this season were nearly the lowest in the division again, even though they were in the play-off places the whole time.

Dead right, Without major backing they could NOT survive nor compete in the EFL

there is a maximum gate they could ever get and are in the same boat as the rest of the traditional non league clubs in our league and some like harrogate and salford who bought a place in the EFL. once the money dries up so will the club to go back to its natural position.

Crowd capacity on the Heed O/S site is stated at 11,200. Average home attendance will be around 1,200 if they are lucky. Can't understand why any financially astute buyer would be interested?

Not when Pools are available just down the A19, with a tidy ground, dedicated fanbase and tons more potential as a one club town.

As the old saying goes, the way to make a small fortune in football is to start with a large fortune. Who's willing to speculate and potentially lose money on either club?

Gateshead’s drawback to a potential investor is probably being tenants to a Council owned sports stadium which is supposedly up for redevelopment….It’s one thing financing a club, but a club with no ground is probably a step too far for most.

You could say that about Pools as they don’t own the ground, could put potential investors off, I don’t see the ground as being ripe for development maybe only for social housing.

if clubs not owning there own ground put investors off there would be far less takeovers. a lot depends on who actually own the ground and what that owner is able to do with it lawfully. stockport do not own theres and to my knowledge wrexham pay rent also like a good number in the premier league also do. Goodness knows where pools would be now if it had been privatly owned by the club owners, we,d be ground sharing at greyfields.

Nothings guaranteed in this life apart from death…but helps if you get the odds on your side for the time you are here.
I don’t see the ground as a problem.

The council resisted attempts by IOR to buy the ground, did they think IOR would see it as a saleable asset, sell it make a profit and build a new ground or were they protecting Pools by keeping it under council ownership ?

possibly for once being under council ownership is better than owned by a trustworthy owner whose own circumstances could change and give him something to sell to the highest bidder. better even as we are than rise the leagues and then overnight we are homeless.
