The Corner Flag will be open every Friday night during the Summer break. We are trying to keep our prices as low as possible with Strongarm still £3.50 a pint.
Events in May
May 5th. End of season celebration.
May 17th. Reflection playing 60s 70s and 80s music.
May28th. Quiz Night.
More details later about these events later.
The Corner Flag is available free of charge for charity fund raising efforts

The Corner Flag have always had an end of season bash, it has become a tradition. Quite a number of our members live out of town and we won’t see them until the new season starts, so we have an end of the season get together.

:angry-tappingfoot: You ask a simple question to which there are no viable answers forthcoming…standards are lowering.
But what is being celebrated…….The Joy of Mediocrity….another limp along season and God forbid …’survival’…?
What is the life, if full of care, we aren’t allowed to to spread despair

Maybe we realised then that back in the day that money was short and hoped for the day the big money man would turn up.
But I always appreciated that the only people who cared about Pools were genuine local small businessmen who kept the club alive and ticking over.and the sub 2,000 gate fans ….. bless ‘em.

true, and think overall the fans were happier back then. the differences back then was pools were run by local small businessmen where the teams at the top were run by local big businessmen. teams on the pitch were also different with players fans could relate to more. we had a number of local ne lads in the side, liverpool had scousers and even man.utd had a few mancs.

Agreed. And no-one in the crowd fancied themselves a TV football pundit back in the day.

Now: He always lets us down in the final third.

Then: Useless twat couldn't score in a fucking brothel.

Now: That was a stonewall penalty, but nothing given by the ref.

Then: Are you fucking blind referee? You couldn't spot a cock in a field full of fannies..!!!

There was something fresh about it back then, the raw fact there was no money to throw about for players never deterred me, I suppose most fans nowadays would probably give it a miss..I never did, there was something that drew me in, the group of us who went were never whinging all the time for the fucking moon …just enjoyed an honest combative game flavoured with the whiff of grass and wet mud, we expected bugger all but lapped up the struggle and learned a life lesson in humour and loyalty to some thing shunned by most…but what the fuck….topped by the treat of real blokes on the pitch getting their revenge when the ref was ‘distracted’…….a game that’s faded into black and white memories, but not based an a whining chase for glory that we get today at all levels.
Bollocks to glory, I just wanted some action.
