The Council are ‘celebrating’ a grant of £9.2m for cycle tracks across the town which from the images proposed looks like narrowing some roads……Not being funny, but in the present climate shouldn’t there be a more deserving case for £9.2m in the town.
Anyway, under Net Zero we won’t be able to afford electric cars….. so every road will become a bleedin cycle track anyway.
Try walking along Seaton prom when the entitled, impatient Lycra lot try to recreate the Tour de Seaton and middle aged men become 12 year olds….the respectful cyclists I have all the time in the world for because I was one.

Its almost certainty to do with getting our cars off the road and pushing us onto bikes / buses and trains. Otherwise not a hope in hell chance they would be spending that type of money on cycle tracks in Hartlepool never mind the overall costs of the country which is going to run into billions at a time we have fookall. 15 minutes cities getting closer.... rakxe banghead A handful of us know this but majority are sleep walking their kids and grankids into open jails.

Didn`t Middlesbrough Council do this to Linthorpe Road? Caused any amount of problems, soon as Ben Houchen got re-elected he promised to get it ripped up!!! Total waste of money...

Anything associated with Green Energy will probably have no problem attracting a grant.

If it includes some road closures the resultant congestion will then be described as too many cars on the road, while the clowns who created this congestion must have known it would but feign innocence.

due to the town being relatively flat there used to be more cycles around the town than really hilly places. makes a bit of sense to improve things for them but at what price. need to remember that not all people are able to cycle for one reason or another and these should be thought of as well.

Tony Scott didn't need cycle lanes in those days!

Well how many cyclists are they in Hartlepool sctatchinghead 250 maybe I think a lot less its not Northallerton York Oxford or Cambridge its fooking Hartlepool. banghead
Maybe its getting spent on tracks for the twats on motorbikes and electric scooters who have no licence / no insurance / no traffic regs to follow / no helmets / no tax / unlimited passengers and seem invisible to the police. Afterall they probably pay no income tax so why not give then the own roads at a 10 million cost. :roll:Take a drive around Hartlepool any day good or bad weather how many peddle bikes would you see maybe 12 if lucky and most if not all are those scruffy druggy types. On the other hand you will see probably the same amount of the above scum bags. banghead

one thing about the cyclists getting there own roads would be they,d make sure they never had a single pot hole on them. well at the moment some of these exist. they are called pavements. will that come next by using them for the lycra club and pedestrians forced onto the roads by having to give way to the protected species.

Nah, for cycle tracks for bikes…apparently the councillors are apparently delighted….we have a Labour Council who could surely find something better to do with the money….
One part includes making the Burn Valley path a cycle path from top to bottom..

Great news! Means you'll get your drugs or burgers delivered so much quicker!

(Actually, I hate these pompous arseholes - yes, those riding the sodding bikes and those wasting our money like this)

Generally Hartlepool is absolutely fine to ride around. Any talk of congestion in Hartlepool is hilarious though. A queue of a few cars isn’t congestion. Rush hour in Hartlepool is a few cars at the top of Park Road for ten minutes.
There are routes between places of work, to Billingham and Stockton for example, that you could sensible introduce bike paths, which would help people get to work and keep fit. Don’t see the need more locally though. At the same time, encouraging people to ride a bike is great. Without knowing the detail, sounds like the money might be better spent on health related stuff.

its not the idea of cycling that bugs me is the riders themselves. nothing wrong back in the days of hundreds of bikes coming out of the shipyards with the only safety measure and fancy clothes on view were cycle clips. grown men acting like kids wearing a tour de france kit, an odd lucking helmet with a go pro looking for trouble just winds me up.
