Very interesting what Dr Suneel Dhand has to say about satins and blood pressure tablets. I have watched this bloke for ages now he is really good. Its well worth a watch its only 7 minutes long

For every YouTube video about statins being ok there are many counter claiming they are bad for you. There can be numerous side effects, muscle aches and damage and liver damage that’s why you should have a liver and kidney function blood test annually when you are on statins.
I take 20mg daily, my cholesterol was slightly high but now it’s normal, initially I had muscle ache in my calves but eventually found a brand that didn’t cause that.
I used to like grapefruit but grapefruit juice has a chemical that can interfere with the enzymes that break down the statins in your digestive system so I don’t eat or drink grapefruit anymore much to my displeasure.

Yes that's spot on that's why I had to give up grapefruit juice. I refused statins from day one after doing a lot of research. I take blood pressure tablet each day and Zicron 40 mg for my type 2 diabetes. I have changed from metformin ( they are terrible from my experience ) and now doing brilliant. I also changed my blood pressure tablets twice until I found Amlodipine 5 mg 3 months ago. I only take one tablet daily but was told 3 months back that I would have to take 2 / 3 / 4 a day after the first 2 weeks. I had no problems at all and told the nurse I would like to continue on I a day. She said your choice but you will need to be careful and will have to increase dosage very soon. Anyway fast forward 3 months and she agrees I have it under control after carefully following the nutritionist advice. Hopefully I can just continue now on one tablet because it's works fantastically for me. We both know though it's horses for courses and tricky even for the nurses to choose the right fit for each individual. It's a trial and error exercise with most tablets as you will know.

I had a run in with the pharmacist at my GP surgery who wanted me to go on statins. When I refused he started pointing out all the things that might happen to me, including a heart attack. I already take 12 tablets a day to help keep my heart ticking, so he was shocked when I said "having a heart attack is the very least of my problems"

There’s a new anti cholesterol kid on the block called Bempedoic acid which is mixed with Ezetimbe into a single pill. GPs are reluctant to prescribe it though because it’s expensive. £80 a month as opposed to pennies for statin. I’m on it by the way.

Remember when i had a blood test a number of years ago, Doc wanted to see me.
When i spoke to her she said my Cholesterol was border line.
However she then went on to say the Government had moved the goal posts, Meaning more people were going to be invited to take Statins.

I don't see Doctors - must be 30 years since last went - don't believe in them!

Keep getting text msgs about coming in for this that and the other but not interested.

Prescriptions should be smarties in disguise?

tablets like vaccinations are not for everybody and you can coult yourself lucky if they work for you with zero side affects. actually those like aching legs could be another issue even down to wearing tight socks.

Definitely no fun getting older, my GP surgery constantly sending me letters not texts for one test or another, I called and and asked why are sending all the letters out, they said they have a ‘duty of care’ ?

its not just health where the older you get the problems rise. things like just driving a car is being made harder every year with increased insurance premiums for a certain age group and people thinking up more and more ideas to get us off the road that will i feel be implemented one day. seems fine for the younger end having mental health problems but feel us oldies will get more as the time goes on. even the thought of death is enough to tip you over the edge never mind the rest they come up with.

Listening to the radio I the car this morning and the news caster said something along the lines of the average family will be £1400 a year worse off come 2030 but the goverments said it will increase people's financial position in the next term. I am unable to confirm the detail because I was driving and not really listening but along those lines anyway.

Duty of care is absolute nonsense.
