Soon to be another lost ground sadx

Anyone got any memories of Pools games there? I never saw Pools play there, but did manage to tick it off around 5 years ago. Lovely old ground, that on my visit was bathed in sunshine, which made for a pleasant day out, but can imagine in bad weather, could be one of the most miserable places on earth, for example when they knocked Pools out of the FA Trophy under Craig Harrison.

Their ground back in the day, seems as though it was much better than Pools, and this complex they are moving into, could be good for them. I hope so, cos always had a bit of a soft spot for Workington.

Drove over that way last year going from Silloth to Barrow ..went through Workington …Maryport and Whitehaven too…but the mention of Workington takes me back to the 70’s….. reminds me of a home game at the Vic when we encountered Jesus in the Town End..he’d come all the way from Workington…according to a certain gobshite Poolie.
Happy days.

Went over there in the day, Night match.
Mingled with their lads, Which was unusual for us poolies.
And no chew if memory serves me right.

Was over there about 10 year ago and got in touch with them, and visited the ground for a look around, How things looked differently from years ago.
Then they were talking of sharing with the rugby club.

Was it this game Gray?

This might bring back some memories of the ground as you remember it.

they are going to knock down whats left of there main stand shortly as phase 1 of a new ground for the rugby league and the football team. glad i managed a league game once up there and like you they were a real decent bunch unlike the ones playing at brunton park are. was really sad when the inevitable happened and were voted out especially with it being yet another southern outfit. hope the new ground works for them and remember the late 50,s when that small town had decent football and rugby clubs.
