The corridor from where the Clansman and post office now only has one shop in it which is the Hospice charity shop.
The BHF charity shop and the Artium closed in recent weeks and there are other areas like where the Windsor restaurant was thats nearly empty.
I would like to ask where is the £25m or part thereof to demolish and do up these areas.
It was promised under Boris (nowt happened) and the Reeves froze it on getting elected.
Its a joke! :angry-screaming: :angry-screaming:

Level it- it's utterly depressing and of no benefit - other than somewhere to keep warm in the winter, if your struggling. Barely 1 shop in the place worth visiting. Never been the same since M&S pulled out, which was basically the reading of it last rites.

Apparently that big toy shop on the corner is also due to close, as they won’t pay the high rents.

The town is going through a slow, painful death and we all pay exorbitant rates in the meantime.

Also meant a lack of a credible venue in which to boldly bare ones arse, in the unlikely event of something quite extraordinary occuring! refred

Remember years ago , the late 70’s driving past the place at daft o’clock in the morning (about 3ish) after a call out and my oppo slowed the van down and one of the lads we worked with was stood looking in the window with his dog on a lead….. he was a prickly bastard so never asked him why….

The amount of retail outlets need drastically reducing via demolition and corridor/ areas closed off. The central bit and the corridors to Park road and York road are ok.

agree. its just an annex that i have never used once the college was built across the road where i used to park. never been a fan of the centre made worse by the roof put on top even if i know the reason why it was done.
