2nd top now 1 point away. Good luck to him but can't help thinking ( despite the Macclesfield success ) this is probably his best level.

Not perfect but easily the best manager we had post challinor

Perfect example of Singhs terrible decision making was to give him a 3 year deal and the. Sack him 3 months later before he had Parkes and waterfall signed just stupidity

I liked Askey, thought he was hard done by in terms of bad luck with injuries, though clearly knew what he was doing and how to get the best out of our more creative players. He seemed to do well up until Darren (surname escapes me- Monks Predecessor in player recruitment- left the club)

Biggest revelation of his tenure was Askey not knowing we had a beach!

The irony being that the players have been on the beach for the last two months :angry-tappingfoot:

Funny how owners think they can sack managers and get instant results…like they’re sacking a part time cleaner.

How many managers get 3 year contracts in the lower leagues, didn’t IOR do 6 month rolling contracts ?

everything that could go wrong did after 20 odd minutes at chesterfield where before this we were playing them off the park. injuries to dodds and mancini and upsetting the balance of the team that it never really recovered from. then the bloke gets sacked when with injuries we had no strikers left on the books. no wonder he looked a beaten man in his interviews as he must have thought he was carrying the woes of the world on his back.

Think he would have survived and we would've stayed in efl but for the events when Syllah went on strike and afterwards. He looked a beaten man when he talked about the most selfish group of players he'd ever encountered.

When did Pools ever make the right managerial appointment, who was advising Singh he had no knooledge of the prospective candidates. Our latest one was sacked by his 2 previous clubs, if you were looking at employing someone and one of the applicants had been sacked twice in their previous employment where would you rank them as a prospective employee ?

You do know that at our level not many managers have never been sacked don't you, Challinor sacked by Fylde, Wrexham manager sacked multiple times, for example.
What should our minimum criteria for managerial appointments be, Champions League winner, never been sacked, must be from a higher level, etc etc
Every managerial appointment is a gamble at any club, even Mourinho had seen as many sacks as Santa's Elves.

Askey was sacked on 30th December 2023. Parkes signed on 8th January 2024. Waterfall on 25th January. Didn't realise Askey got himself a temporary gig as chief scout

There isn’t a manager on the planet that could make Pools successful at the moment.

or talks with them especially with parkes started whilst he was with us. it takes weeks rather than days to eventually reveal new signings after the first talks with them and in our case some have been training at the club in what seems like a secret for weeks before.

and making seaman go from a good looking signing to become utter crap at the same time making it 3 players out who were guarenteed starters with no decent replacements.
