The tanker was moored, the ‘Portuguese’ ship sailed directly into it beam on ….the tanker had aviation fuel on for US Forces in Europe.
What I don’t understand is ships now have auto pilot too so how was this allowed to happen ….?
Where are the crews from…a vessels flag does not necessarily match it’s crew origins.

Well, just like planes there's data and voice black box recorders fitted in bridge and engine control rooms nowadays so they should be able to get to the bottom of it.
16knots in fog and close to anchorage is reckless, pretty sure ships are required to have minimum 2 radars with collision avoidance built in so alarms should have been blaring.
Luckily the aviation fuel didn't go off big style otherwise there would've been dozens killed.

I'm more concerned about the ship containing Jet fuel, to be used in the killing of people, even though the Ukraine now strangely seem keen on a ceasefire, sailing off the coast of Britain. Of course the captain of that ship ain't going to be Russian.

The tanker contains AvGas for aircraft , as it was anchored with a load it was obviously due for discharge in the UK…so it doesn’t concern me……but Western ship owners have been firing crews and replacing them with cheaper non European crews as in the case of P&O Ferries, which has all been forgotten about sadly.
