Can any of you ex military people explain what exactly this covenant is all about. sctatchinghead Is it a kind of caring for ex military who need help etc. Or is it more to do with the military protecting itself. sctatchinghead It's a genuine question.

Oh so like the famous JFK quote: Ask not what your country can do for you- ask what you can do for your country.

I think its partly a promise not to penalise service people people for the things they have to do that the general population tends not to. Moving around a lot, being out of the country a lot, living in a barrack block etc...

It’s bollocks. Homeless veterans aplenty whilst former ISIS illegals are put up in hotels.

Anyone who serves this country in the armed forces deserve to live tax free in a decent accommodation minimum. Anything less is embarrassing it really is. And if you disagree then get yourself enrolled go to a war zone come back and I will respect your opinion. And no I have not been in the forces but I had family and friends who have.

Politicians only care about the forces when they need them.

got to agree and i am not ex forces or from a family that were either. some will say that nobody asked them to sign up but if they hadn,t then others would be conscripted to do the job.

So Ex Forces personnel(Officer grade mainly) can apply for and get highly paid jobs in companies, form their own cliques and get better treated than their co-workers.
