Not really a big shock.

Plymouth beat their “B” team! Not a good look for the cup, not a good look for Liverpool, and not particularly good for the LFC players involved, especially the young ones.

Commentators and pundits make it one of the biggest cup shocks. As stated this was against a a virtual reserve side and let’s not forget Plymouth were a championship side not a lower league side the likes of York,Wrexham, Hereford, etc who beat top teams playing their full first team players. (Ah memories of Pools v Busby Babes we nearly did it)

its how the cup is seen nowadays. comes a poor third to european football and the qualifications for it. even leeds did the same by being defeated by millwall as promotion is the key for them. be good for the game if teams who do that get sod all from the rest of the season. the big question is all those liverpool fans who spent a good whack and the time getting there knew at the outset what sort of team they,d put out. i doubt it and would feel conned. the days are far removed from when burnley got fined for playing a wakened side in a league game before a FA Cup one.

Good point about playing a weakened team, Maybe the FA should implement a rule to combat it, They won,t though because they see the FACUP as secondary. KUNTS

Why not ban Premiership teams from the Cup as it now seems the FACup is below their dignity and bloated ego’s.
Fuck em :angry-tappingfoot:

or actually ask clubs whether they want to enter the competition at the outset and tell them a weakened side means the loss of sponsorship money. that includes lower efl sides who do the same when they play non league or a lower division opponent. its not just premier league teams its rife across the game. the media do not help though with the continued mention of the magic of the cup that is not there apart from being a plymouth fan saying you beat the champions elect but fail to see it was a pale imitation of the team seen in there next game.

Liverpool have put out teams full of U-21 players in early rounds of the FA Cup in previous years and breezed through. They underestimated Plymouth. Maybe they thought Rooney was still manager?

win or lose does not matter. its fans who are small changed having to watch a weaker than expected opponent no matter which team you support. at least palace played the game when they played pools and showed respect to us, both sets of fans and the competition. want donny rovers to win tonight but not interested if they play a liverpool type 11.

If I was a Liverpool fan who travelled all the way to Plymouth to watch a reserve team I would not be best pleased to put it mildly. Slot thought his reserves were good enough to beat bottom of the league Plymouth or did he not want the s*it kicked out his first team players ?

I enjoyed Queens Park defeating the mighty Rangers even better as it was at Ibrox, the Queens Park keeper saving a penalty in added on time which went to VAR. 27 year Callum Ferrie who made some outstanding saves trout the game comes from England. The goal scorer was also English 21 year old Serb Drozd, it was a superb finish as well.
I always like to see the big two get beat for too long they have dominated Scottish football because they have more money albeit Rangers are currently skint, no difference from the Premier League, the deeper your pockets the better team you are.

he might be happy though as liverpool seemed to have the biggest percentage of the main thing posession and have had a larger number of shots on goal. they won all the stats but the one that matters, the final score.

Pretty sure Liverpool had 3 games to play in 3 different competitions in 9 days. Hence the kids playing at Plymouth. Although I hate the FA Cup being dished I don't blame Liverpool. The greedy bastard " Alex purple nose " from Mancester was first to kill the FA Cup with a micky mouse " World's " best team game during our season. That unfortunately opened the door to the rest of the greedy twats

Hoepw about ban em and put it back to the proper time of 3o’clock on a Saturday…although Wembley would probably refuse as they were hosting a Premiership Club under 7’s knockout competition.

be interesting which competition most of the liverpool fans wanted their team to do the best in. its back to this 3 games in 8 days bollocks we have been spouted to about that kills players off. then you get players saying they,d rather play than train. what actually is the correct thing i wonder.

they,d just shrug their shoulders and pay it after writing articles in the press and from some of their fans on how downtrodden they are and everyone wants to make an example of them and the city they exist in. think it was a scouser the aussies were thinking about when we were all classed as whinging poms.

Pools were fined a fair few years back for fielding a weakened side.
I think it was when we won performance of the week in some checkatrade trophy game.

just wonder if eventually the fa cup will go the same way as the local competitions we won years back by the first team and later the reserves. every club has them in their own county fa areas where once they were prestigeous fixtures but now won by a team from the northern league in our case. fans lost interest in them and looking at cup gates in the early rounds fans are losing interest in the cup. the league cup and the trophy thing are in there death throws now and cannot last much longer. you hear fans talk when the cup comes up and you hear more of what there club can make out of it than how far they hope to get in it.
