Struggling to find a job after getting voted out deserves everything he gets. I remember him sat in the HoP cheering when the tories stopped some benefit*...not just cheering...it was like his Football Team had just scored a last minute winner in a Cup Final.
*Can't remember exactly what it was but it was definitely taking something away from the poorest of society.

I am indeed- (of the woodwork variety), for my sins!

All good at the moment as I've got another week of Xmas Parole, before going back into battle!

He is an absolute KUNT- of that, there is NO doubt!

Might try and get myself elected to Parliament as that's a zoo- similar to working in a school.
I've been teaching over 20 years now- though it's not the kids I tend to have the biggest issues with- it's the staff!

Had it a few times in the past, where the kids have said 'Bet you can't wait to go to the Staffroom Sir'

My stock reply is, Yes I can, as I hate it!'

To which the kid will then enquire -
'Why do you hate the Staffroom Sir?'

To which I reply-
'Because it's full of Teachers!' bbolt

Very few, what I would term 'normal' people, work in education. Too much bullshit attached- makes my piss BOIL. Was a Head of Department for ten years in two different schools- but just a standard teacher nowadays - extra money just wasn't worth the aggravation. Would rather spend my evenings with my own school age kids rather than doing pointless paperwork which goes nowhere other than to further someone else's career.

The worst types are those who have only ever been in education - went to school/ college/ uni and straight into the classroom - NO real world experience beyond the school gates. :angry-screaming:

Got another twenty years to go before I can claim my state pension - would be surprised if I manage more than 10. It's a young mans game nowadays and not the job I signed up for in 2002- you just don't see people beyond the age of 55 teaching a full timetable.

All the older ones tend to be tucked away in offices in management roles- not for me that. Anyone with any sense, who can afford to gets out completely. Ultimately when that happens it's the kids who lose out on an experienced teacher who knows how to handle them, and who they respect

Older teachers are also expensive so are pushed out, to help keep the wage bill down as that's your greatest expense. Something that these Academy chains are good at- as they're run as a business.

Seen it many times, older teachers who have been round the block and know the game, basically been forced out of jobs, because they can see through the bullshit and will standup and question ridiculous decisions being made- not because they're being difficult but because they have seen it before/ know it doesn't work and also about someone's career/ next promotion as opposed to what is best for the kids. banghead refred

over the last few years it seems more regular for teachers to leave before retirement age for a number of reasons than actually retiring in the job. know my mates wife did that and her views on the proffesion itself changed dramatically from being the one in her early 20,s to the one in her mid 50,s. a bloke in my over 50,s club said exactly the same with a career that mirrored hers.

TBH it must be horrific being a teacher today more so in the teenage classrooms, I am not advocating all pupils are unruly but how can you control an individual when they know there is nothing you can do to threaten them ?

Threaten you, I might have a jovial banter with you Leggie but I don’t recall ever threatening you.

actually there is plenty they can do right up to excluding them. thing is many cannot control even kids who are not unruly whilst others can without a problem. know its a different era but thinking back to my senior school days we had a maths teacher who could control a class with ease without threats to pupils or raising his voice. not sure you can develop this as you either have this talent or not.
