Why would good socialists even touch a Peerage…I wouldn’t because I don’t believe in the House of Lords.

Neither do they until they're offered one.

i would have one.
Go to sleep on a park bench and you get fined £50. Do the same in the Lords and you get £350.

Never saw the point of an unelected second chamber allowed a say….never saw the point of an elected second chamber either, that would be just as silly.

Starmer said less than a year ago that he wanted to abolish the House of Lords, now he's appointing another 30 peerages to Labour cronies.

I suspect when they made all these promises they never imagined they’d be in power….. their naivety is stunning.

It would be a good idea to rid the HoC of Lawyers, Solicitors etc and others who have never done a days work in their life.

Possibly you missed the irony. If all the lawyers, solicitors etc and people who had never done a days work in their life were removed from Parliament it would be deserted.

I believe the reason for the upper house is to review legislation as often the acts from the commons are full of inaccuracies and ambiguities and to make sure that the spirit of the legislation is delivered.
I have been in the Lords twice and watched the debates on reviewing Commons legislation and was impressed by it and the cross party working.
I do get the impression that only 20% of the Lords do anything and the rest are wasted spaces.

thats a good reason to abolish or change it and getting rid of the bishops on top who are now only supporting a minor religeon in the country.
