…not receive any compensation.
Now what was the Labour stance on this?

Sets a dangerous precedent if they're not complying with an Ombudsmans ruling. Regardless of personal opinions on if compo should be paid, Ombudsmen rulings are usually obligatory on the complained about organisation.
There's loads of footage and photos of him and his top team supporting the Waspis and demanding the previous government get the compo paid quickly.
Just unbelievable how many lies this lot told to get elected. And obvious the bloke is an absolute bully picking on the weak and those who don't have an organisation or Union to stand up to them.
Strong rumours that having said public sector pay rises will be limited to 2.8% but MPs are in line for another 4.6% or so when supposedly there's no money.

Facking disgrace this.

Say one thing in opposition. Do the other "with bells on" in power.

I wanted rid of the Conservatives because of the constant lies and cock ups, but this new government, I don't think they understand why people voted for them, they seem more remote than the previous lot and I predict they could be out next time round. They're making too many enemies out of the "normal/ordinary" voters.

I'm not a WASPI woman, but I feel they've been led up the garden path for years then cast to one side.

Talking about current affairs is allowed isn't it?
Or should we just zip it and pretend life is all roses and Sir Kier and his team are the bees knees? There was plenty of moaning going on while the other lot were in power.

Apparently that's what you have to do about Pools; zip it.

How much were the compo figures?
Only a few hundred i heard.
Money better spent on new trains through Hartlepool with full restaurant services.

It's as much the principle of defying the Ombudsman than the compo imo. What's to stop banks, insurance companies, etc from defying Ombudsmen rulings if the government are setting the precedent. The Ombudsmen are supposed to be independent and our watchdogs and guardians.

£10bn….trouble apparently is promises made pre election about fighting the wrong.
Self inflicted, don’t know who’s advising them

The recommendations were that they get £1k to £3k each and it was for the women not being properly informed. I knew about the change in the pension age changes at the time. Was it because they didnt get a letter about it at the time? The government was on the ball sending me the bad news letter about WFA ending.
The question is though can these billions be spent elsewhere with more benefit to all?
The govt got away with the WFP why not this?
It does make a worrying precedent.

Keep shooting yourself in the foot and eventually you will blow it off. Starmer is already the most despised PM in decades after only a few short months. He must surely appreciate that he and his motley band of amateurs, has been and never will bees are in power purely because of the voter’s total lack of confidence in the incompetent Tories. He is currently sowing the seeds of his party’s inevitable downfall. No amount of sweeteners or yet more promises will save them when up against even a moderately credible opposition.

Thats the issue in that there is no creditable opposition.
When Blair was in power the conservative leaders were capable individuals who could make a case.
I prefer to see a government held to account.

Whoever is pulling his strings is setting him up for an almighty fall and soon.
Job vacancies down, unemployment up.
Growth negative.
Inflation rising again.
Promise after promise broken.
Under this PM, don't see how his masters will keep him in place for too much longer.

Replaced by Andy Burnham 15 months before next election.

Unforced errors, is that the term?

Removing the WFA.
The farmers tax thing (after previously saying they wouldn’t do it)
And now the WASPI women thing (after saying they would do something)

I am not personally effected by any of the above but the whole thing stinks IMO. Starmer seems to be enjoying his tough guy image, the image of someone who makes a decision and sticks to it but forgets about what him and others said previously, whilst also forgetting many of the people who voted him in.

He’s too busy swaggering on the world stage…..as he turns up and announces..”Hello, I’m Keir, I want to be your friend and be liked, how much money do you need?”

It seems that he didn't realise when in opposition that to pay compo would need to come from taxpayer raised government funds. Now it's just dawned on him, 14 years of planning to betray a nation be it Pensioners, Business, workers, Waspies, Credit, he's committed to shafting an entire nation in record time.

do not worry as those who have not died off will get the money in the last 12 months of this government as part of the big give away that everyone will benefit from. then people with the short memories will forget the previous 4 years of hell under them. can hear them now saying that we have come through the other side to put the country back on its feet and is the time to give something back to one and all.

I wouldn’t worry Mr A…they are programmed with a few strap lines they chant out robotically when they don’t have an answer…….

1. The £22 bn black hole the Tory’s left ( the exact amount Millibean has spent on Carbon capture)

2. The past 14 years of Tory( Lib Dem) rule ( When the Labour goverment minister left a note there was no money left)

3. We raised the minimum wage. (except they weren’t paying for it)

4 We need the money for the NHS.

Repeat ad nauseum. yawn2

The Ombudsman said there was maladministration and the government (when in oposition) agreed. The Ombudsman said compensation must be paid and the government (then in opposition) agreed.
It seems that Labour Party cabinet members must have a switch which is activated after a successful election which changes their opinions and actions 180 degrees.

Sir K. (you tough guy - you)

As a taxpayer I would like some of the money taken from me as tax paid to the WASPI women. You're not speaking for me.

Starmer has either lost his moral compass that he had in 2022 when he called the WASPI issue "a real injustice" or he's at thieving, lying bastard. Many other Labour politicans share that accolade. Either way Starmer is not fit to be Prime Minister. He can given £28 billion to Milliband and sign up to billions for climate change reparation but won't put right a real injustice right in the UK. This is a one term Labour government.

Starmer is like a small town Bank Manager in the 1950’s.
An hard faced humourless frosty character who sees everyone as being below him and has a calculated contempt for the small customers who he sees as lucky to be able to have him as their manager.
A man used to getting his own way and expecting those under him to obey him, detached from reality and takes advice from no one.

doubt he will get any advice from his cabinet as those in it will be all the same as him and rubber stampers with no dissent in the ranks. they would not have got their jobs otherwise but will knife him in the back if it suits.
