We all reminisce with a warm glow over the players we loved and admired.
But how about celebrating some of the laziest, talent free, wage snatching gits who ever pulled on a Pools shirt,….

A. Goalkeeper

B. Defender

C. Midfielder

D. Forward.

E. Multi Purpose no hoper.

I’m off to do some research bbolt

this is near on impossible as they were either good or bad. its just when players leave that some are seen as being better than they actually where by some.

That Centre Half from Doncaster who played once and then was injured for the rest of the season. He was a pundit for Sky when we beat Doncaster at home and got relegated when Newport got a late winner. Cant remember his name.

In my time and off the top of my head

Keeper: Jan Budtz or Hollund were pretty bad
Defender: Louis Laing was horrendous
Midfield: David Clegg from Liverpool, utter shite
Striker: Cassidy or maybe a scott sloan

Not including players who only played a couple games or so like lance key, adie mike, Lawrence davies, lanzoni etc.

I thought Hollund was decent and certainly not in the same class as Butz.
Simon Walton.

A. Stephen Pears…a top keeper at the Borers but for us he was someone who looked like he’d woke up, realised he’d signed fo Pools and couldn’t believe it by his facial expression …constantly terrified someone was gonna attack him from behind not helped by Lawrence’s screaming cackle that confirmed it was a nightmare and he would wake up.

Hollund couldn't collect a cross or corner without flapping or fumbling it and he couldn't kick a ball past half way.

Scored a worldy v Exeter.
Must be on YouTube.
Put apart from that his weight ended his career.

Just remember Dean Gibbo from Brandon.
Said he had ambitions to play in the World Cup for England.

Bit harsh on Kyle, 5 goals in 15 games when he was more of a target man was a pretty decent return.

Luscombe was either in a betting shop or kebab shop.

Mick Fagan was utterly shite, I'd heard he got a game because he was Vince Barkers son in law, don't know how true that is.
Roy Tunks was a shite keeper, among the many shite keepers we've had.

We've had some belting keepers over the years. Rob Moverley for example. Think the Fagan story was correct.

Don't know if my memory is correct, but I remember a young lad called ( I think ) Craig Farnaby ?
Put one over the bar from about two yards out - not sure he ever played again.

He actually went on to have a half decent career for his level in the end though. 200 odd apps for Lincoln and 200 odd in Scotland, plenty of which the SPL

Yeah, I remember that miss...still talk about it with mates who where there with me. It was Peterborough at home, on a bitterly cold winters day. Brian honours debut I think as well.
If people think bjornsonns miss at Huddersfield bad, it had nothing on craig farnaby in the middle of the goal with an empty net. :-D

Agree he give 110% every minute he played. That attitude was a winning attitude just lacked in other ways. A sound lad I always had time for.

There's dozens who were worse if you include loan players or people who only played a handful of games for us.

My list is all players who played a lot of games for Pools - enough to stick in my memory.

I know Tony Skedd is from the town and always gave 100% - but he was never football league standard, much less someone who should have been playing in League One. Those were desperate times for the club.
