Possible to monitor everything you write eventually….knock on the door in the middle of the night…you can think anything …..but never speak it or write it down.

People are getting knocks on the door now, For writing their opinions on twitter.
I mean real opinions not dick head opinions.

Remember this shower sent reps to the usa to influence the elections, Seems to be acceptable to most on these shores.

Just like Stalin's Russia. If it was said you had crticized the government,no proof needed, you got 10 years in the Gulag Of course us in the liberal left democracies shuddered at the thought and banged on about how "free" we all were. Looks like the Soviet method of crushing any hint of dissent is becoming acceptable in the liberal West. I despair. People quite rightly complained about Johnson and Sunak but they were Paragons of virtue in comparison to Starmer.

Just read the Gulag Archipeligo again and one part that struck me was a train driver sentenced to I0 years there which was abominable….when his time was up they called him in to tell him he would receive another ten years and promptly killed himself all based on dashing people’s hopes and expectations in general as a lesson to their society.
Comply or……..?

Agree. When I first read The Gulag Archipeligo I was taken aback by the cruelty and casual attitude to human suffering that dominated Stalin's regime. Now I consider what is is happening in the UK and find myself getting increasingly uneasy. Of course the Soviets had rock solid borders whch is at least one way in which they were different to us..

I reckon their borders were unnecessary, no one was banging on the door to be allowed in.

like many things that happened in that period blame it on the covid restrictions which showed how the majority would comply to a governments wishes. Now they expect that to be the new norm. it must come as a shock that the sheep have grown a pair.
