A vitally important petition has just been started on Change.org.

I urge all to participate in it.

It relates to the position of Hartlepools Christmas Tree this year. Should it be next to Christ Church or outside the Kremlin next to the war memorial?
The leadership of the Council are proposing it to be positioned by Christ Church again................do you agree.

Not much going on in the world, so I'm surprised the BBC, NBC, Al Jazeera and Russia Today haven't picked up on this.

The pensioners would never see a penny if they did.

Christmas is only an excuse for the supermarkets, Amazon etc to rake in more money from the gullible public same as Easter, Halloween and Guy Fawkes Day, kids don’t know the true meaning of any of them.

known in my house as the festival of retail. what comes into peoples minds when that word is brought up. sprouts everywhere and chocolate oranges. both foods of satan where cafes look aghast when you say no sprouts and put a chocolate orange in the first raffle you can if you receive one.

Announcement in the Mail about the fireworks display to celebrate’ the life of Guy Fawkes, what a total waste of money going up in smoke and very dependent on the weather.
I thought the Greens would be all over this with the pollution.

if it wasn,t for the pets and wild animals that must be scared shitless by the event i,d love it as long as it was the 5th of november being bonfire night and not bonfire week which its now become. even halloween is now stretched over 8 days with events both the saturday before and after the one ay event. then they sing they wish that christmas lasted every day. feels like some events do.

I'm all for public displays of fireworks but I just don't understand why government after government have not banned the sale of fireworks which are basically an explosive!!!
Plus our Jess is terrified of them and shakes uncontrollably in the house when they are going off!!!

Same problem here …Ruby shakes and Ratboy barks…going West on Monday so taking them with me because where I’m going there’ll be no fireworks for certain.

The noise some of them make convinces me maybe some are taken from a skip behind the ‘Chinese Rocket and dangerous Missiles reject Centre’ and repackaged for mugs over here to buy.

remember as a kid they were not on sale that long and where taken off the shelves on the afternoon of bonfire day. it ised to be bonfire night and not bonfire week as we now have and fireworks set off across the rest of the year for any excuse availble to the users. pointless making shops stop selling them when they can be purchased on line and also cannot see the police rushing to an outbreak of fireworks only to find its some asian festival being in place.

Fireworks are an all year round thing now, any celebration gives the excuse to set them off.
