KPG - has any of them really got ahead. They are still playing in the league they left Pools in. As for Sweeney good luck to him butwas anybody really bothered when he left.

Think the anger is more about the fact that there's no managerial vacancy yet rather than who would or would not fill it if it did exist.

No one was particularly bothered when Sweeney left as we were led to believe that the Messiah had arrived- except it turns out that the Messiah is a false prophet, a clueless fakir who belongs in the stable with the rest of the donkeys.

In my opinion Sweeney was part of the problem, we needed a root and branch removal from the club of the playing side management to start afresh, unfortunately we ended up with a comedy act, an unfunny comedy act. banghead

There were very strong rumours that Sweeney was offered the managers job on more than 1 occassion but turned it down saying he wasn't ready for it yet and preferring to stay in his comfort zone.
Not a miss imo.

he is only going there on the back of elliott and not his own capability of doing his job. both could be available if they drop back to league 2 at the end of the season.

If you don't mind me saying, that's a harsh take really. If he ends up in League two, still better than staying here. But also, I think it's good that people recognise their own strengths (i.e. coaching etc.) and have the humility to admit being a manager is not what they want or aren't up to. Sweens doesn't strike me as being ego driven, a quality that seems to have been appreciated by everyone apart from Hartley and Sarll, which speaks volumes about him and them! Successful teams are made up of a range of talents and temperaments - Pools are suffering from group think at the moment. Sarll is definitely not someone who appreciates being challenged on their world view.

Can't see Crawley mentioned without thinking of the 2-0 home defeat that sealed relegation 3 seasons ago.

A must win game if ever there was one, us or them for the drop, a real sliding doors moment, nearly 7,000 fans in, all desperate for a performance - and Pools blew it. Didn't get out of 1st gear. He was some motivator, that John Askey. banghead

That’s what I was told too, managers jobs at Pools aren’t renowned for their ‘longevity’, but backroom staff have a longer shelf life.

We found out later some players did not try that vital day. Now I feel we are back in that disgusting place of certain players going through the motions. Forget the manager is failing badly, these players are robbing the loyal supporters of any chance of success this season, yet kiss the fooking badge when it suits. Why should we hand over our hard earned money just to pay the wages of the fook less journey men. It's only a handful of players but when Sarll goes I hope the club quickly moves these pretenders on aswell because its a disgrace. banghead

I haven't listened to Sarll's latest post-defeat rants as life really is too short, but there's a world of difference between 'demoralised and demotivated' and 'not trying' - especially if the clown is slagging off our best players, who have run through walls for Pools in the past.

Better wages.
More job security.
It's a no brain especially in a short career.

Going by the last few games It looks to me that there are two groups of players in one dressing room now. The ones that want to play for Sarll and the rest who want rid. I agree our best players have run through walls in the past, but I seriously think a few of them either want away or want change. Can't really blame them for that but cannot forgive them if we find out later they downed tools.

I only found out today that Ben Clark had indeed been offered the Heed job back when he was caretaker but doesn't want to be a manager. What a shame he did well at Heed back then and produced a lot of superb results with a shadow of a squad.

you never hear about a coach at a club getting the sack if the manager stays at that club. it only happens once a manager is sacked or a new manager brings his own one with them and the previous bloke is still around.

think at the time many thought sweeney might be the problem as he was the only common denometer in the shit show. showed he wasn,t when things went from bad to worse.

I'm nervous about Gateshead managers now....seem to do great there but not so much at other places--obviously a unique set up

at least there managers go somewhere else. where do they go after leaving pools. hiding in truro is the best any have achieved. easiest way to get out of club management is to get the pools job unless your name is challinor.

I hear what you say, but Truro City are currently 2nd in the NL South with six games to go.

I can't be the only one wishing that we were "hiding" that well just one league above them...
