Its obviously a casually racist comment-but is really between Son and Bentacur--he apologized to Son and he accepted it so really that should be the end of it.....too many people who cant wait to get outraged on other peoples behalf

Disagree in that particular case, been a well known slur for years that.
It’s applying characteristics based on race….which is nonsense….all people have different opinions, the colour of your skin is no guide to your opinions.

Coconut may well have racist connotations but has also been commonly used to mock people as being a bit thick.
Racism must have an element of intent and that is missing in this case, according to the accused and accepted by the judge.
So it boils down to the fact that something said which could be interpreted as racist words isn't necessarily a case of racism unless the words are intended to be abusive due to colour, race, or religion.
Wonder who brought the case and I'd guarantee we the taxpayers paid for it.

I can’t see what’s racist about it, the poster was pointing out the people are false and used a coconut to illustrate it, they could have photo shopped photos to make them look white, nothing would have been said about that.

The whole point of the comment is nothing to do with ‘looking white’….it’s saying some black people have ‘white attitudes/mindset’ which is nonsense and nothing to do with skin colour.

Slightly off topic but why were there no complaints about Love Thy Neighbour and some comments made on Till Death do us Part, they can never be repeated on TV nowadays. Jim Davidson had to stop using Chalkie in his jokes even some of Charlie Williams jokes would be classed as racist today by some.

Sadly we live in the world of the easily offended…but they don’t mind offending others who don’t share viewpoint, they never compromise.Mind you, Love the Neighbour was a bit cringey….but Till Death do us part was written by Johnnyn Speight to highlight things in society ….. but society quite liked it as it was.

actually are they really offended or offended for others. more like they do not like hearing it. plenty of things and people i swerve more or less because they do not entertain me and just find something different to watch. the only thing that offended me with people blacking up in a minstral show was the complete boredom of the programme itself. the last thing about it was making a political statement.

The only person who ever complained was Mary Whitehouse but only because of the ‘bad’ language not the racism comments.

Tried watching Love Thy Neighbour about 15 years ago...I was embarrassed by how shit it was and like Snowy said very cringey. Got about 10 minutes in...that was enough.

thing was they were funny back then. its nothing to do with woke but lots of comedy does not age very well. people once laughed in the isles by people in silent films like charlie chaplin or in the 30,s at british commedians and their humour. for me they are all a poor watch and i can hardly smile at them.
