They should and maybe they will but it's the same old story innit?? They work on an inflexible number per square metre, less a percentage. On the one hand and bearing in mind the various crush incidents there's been, you can see the point but it's over cautious considering it's hard standing and there's marked walkways etc.

On the other, it wouldn't break the bank to make some minor adjustments and open up the corners. Obviously no one would spend much time standing there except for a half time tab like they do now but if they were designated standing at least we'd be granted maybe another 4/500 on the capacity.

Well that's exactly the kidology I'm on about. Just tart 'em up a bit, rub out the yellow lines and say it's new standing space. Then put the extra numbers in the existing bits.

Question being, where's the extra Poolies going to come from?? We'll sell the Rink End out maybe five or six times this year so we'd be looking to get more than 6500 Poolies in to exceed the current capacity. Leeds United maybe, yeah, but that's 1750 more than the current average. Or put another way a 33% increase.

The capacity has something to do with the number of people you can get through the turnstiles per minute. It is a national safety requirement for all sports stadia which I think came from the Taylor report following Hillsborough.

There is only one paying turnstile and one ticket turnstile for the Mill House Terrace therefore, more turnstiles would allow an increased capacity!

Wouldn't it now be down to Hartlepool Council and possibly Cleveland Police (Cleveland County Council got abolished 1996 Phil, I thought you'd have remembered that!!!)

I once got told number of turnstiles, exit gates, toilets, were also a factor in how the allowed capacity is worked out, though I don't know how true that is.

It must surely be worth the club looking into it.

Sounds like too cheap a solution to be true!

I've heard that as well, the exit gates are supposedly the problem as they are far too narrow.......

Can you sort this out quickly please - fixtures out next week I think and we will be registering for the first batch of away tickets in no time. I would hate to miss out on a trip to the NE! Can't justify an away season ticket to the Mrs so I have to take pot luck. Suspect our away season ticket holders will take the full allocation at your place . Dam shame.

Cleveland County Council ceased to exist in 1996...the capacity question is down to Hartlepool Borough Council, unless, unawares to me, they've entered into some silly Tees Valley  agreement to pool the function of sports facility inspection, which is news to me.
There really should be a national body inspecting sports stadia as the opinions of local authorities can vary wildly.

Even when it's 'full' to it's new capacity, there's still loads of space, if the Town End is anything to go by.

Apart from Bob Newton's two penalties, the thing I remember most about that match is not being able to move my arms, we were packed in like sardines on the Mill House Terrace, and I too was a lot smaller at the time.
