2 games in three days is absolutely stupid where you are bound to get shocks. its as if the league are trying to create them with these bank holiday monday games.

It's not really the same for everybody though when you look at the fixtures, don't think anyone had a longer trip only 1 day after their previous match. I'm sure they could have made things a bit fairer in terms of travelling so soon after a match and on a bank holiday, there's plenty of Northern teams in the league better suited to midweek fixtures.
Not an excuse, don't think the travel cost us too much. Credit to the Woking manager by the way for the tactical and personnel changes he made after the sending off. They pretty much played the perfect game against 10 men and made it look easy.

Ya only mugging yourself their.
Bringing distance into it.
Plus the players didn't travel down in the back of a transit van like us fans used to.

Not really I said distance didn't cost us too much. The point I was making is that it would make more sense for the longest travels, for every team, to be at weekends when there isn't a midweek match. Better for everyone imo.
Also Woking players with knocks would have been in the treatment room on Sunday / Monday whereas ours were on a bus / in a hotel room. Fine margins do make a difference in sport. Not an excuse, just an observation.

So you don't agree that local games make more sense midweek and bank holidays? Nowt to do with the result this time I don't know how many times I have to say not an excuse.
Going forward it makes sense for every team to be playing local-ish games in terms of player recovery, traffic congestion, getting more away fans to attend imo.
How many Poolies were at Woking (550 mile round trip)? 200 ish? Would've been more than twice that for even a 200 mile round trip.

Not everyone can keep playing teams close to themselves. Then if you play local teams on a midweek or bank holiday the crowds arent as big as they would be for a saturday, so even less money for clubs. We are a big club in this league and if we are making a deal out of it think of the braintrees tamworths with less resources and weaker squads.

Nothing would of been said if we kept playing the way we did for first 20 minutes, but then we changed and couldnt cope. If we had brought in quality replacements in june and july for expected injuries we wouldnt even be having this conversation.

And now we have a major attendance drop off.
Which no doubt not to far down the line will be blamed on the Hartlepudlian public not really being bothered about football.

Cant blame the hartlepool public on this one. Watched shite for last couple of years and attendances were around 4500 quite often. Put the price of things up all the time and eventually comes a point where people pick and choose games. Someone in the club needs to come up with some novel ideas to get fans into the ground during tough times, shite games etc.

if we sold out every game and a thousand missed out the fact is most people in the town are not interested in football or their local club. If we ever did make it to wembley how many who live in the town would go. you cannot blame the towns population for not being bothered about football as for many its the last place they want to be is the vic on a saturday afternoon.

When you compare last seasons attendances against Southend and Wealdstone the attendance across the 2 games combined is down about 400 with about 150 fewer travelling fans so 250 down overall or 125 per game. Hardly a major collapse is it?
I've no doubt attendances will fall if we don't start winning at home. Even if we're not playing attractive football the fans will turn out to watch us winning.
Got to put things right with 2 home wins now.

think the side needs to do both as residents of the town ar not as easily conned as some places.

Bit of a spin on facts though. The first two games of the season which normally tend to attract decent crowds at pools, because their has been no football its way down. No doubt Braintree will also be way down. If anyone takes a look at the ticket sales in the seating area shows we havent sold many for it again.

First game last year at home 5000. Gateshead 2nd game 4000 maidstone 3rd game nearly 4400 against fylde. I will hazard a guess now we wont get within 600 of the fylde crowd.

So thats 600 plus down on very similar away support first game. 400 plus down 2nd game and if we are very lucky and get 3800 saturday be another 600 plus down and thats if the crowd goes up by a couple of 100's.

No spin at all just facts. Can't get much better comparison than the 2 games against the same opponents over 2 seasons.

So this saturday we are going to be 100s down if not close to a 1000 against the same opponent.

unless you want certain ticket in a certain stand i just cannot see the point of buying a ticket until the day of the game. especially if there is a slight chance you might not be a ble to make it.

I see your point but in the days of Challinor, seats were almost sold out on the wednesday and thursday now hardly any sold. Money is certainly tighter but having a lot more expensive season tickets has affected us big time now.

Our crowds are down, yet Saturday we had the biggest attendance in the league, the previous Saturday, the 2nd biggest.
Considering we’re still pulling in over a 1000 more than teams like Rochdale, similar to us population of wise & well supported teams on their doorstep,I don’t think it’s too bad.
