Actions have consequences.
Make an example of them, they thought they were heroes and Martyrs in their semi detached brain..
They are the unchallenged masters of the self inflicted wound….

The 2 blokes might change their tune and be huge fans of the old petroleum jelly after a couple of weeks in chokey.

I have no time for these type of idiots. My only concern is I hope this is not a " bigger picture " that is designed to stop protests in general hence the extra large sentences. sctatchinghead

Surely what they did couldn't in any way be described as peaceful protest? It was dangerous and obstructive to huge numbers of people going about their daily lives and included impeding ambulances and people on their way to urgent medical appointments.
Of course the right to peaceful protest must be preserved but more importantly the rights of the majority to go about their business needs to be protected.
Hope this is the start of a huge clampdown.

Trouble is they think they’re in the right, they’re not, just spoilt fuckwits with massive ego’s expecting everyone to dance to their tune.

We now have a Labour government so dont worry about protests being restricted. I fully expect protesting to become a national pass time.

If they were a different colour or creed blocking the roads, the streets in London get blocked now again with protesters, they are blocking the roads the same as JSO protesters, how many arrests and charges/convictions are there ?

Not defending them but comparing them to the other protesters who the Police apparently turn a blind eye to.

Organised protests and what JSO do are definitely not the same thing.

problem with protests and even riots peoples take on them all depends on their point of view on the subject they might be protesting about or rioting. Lock em up and throw away the key if you do not agree with them. if you do its overhanded policeing and court sentances too long to fit the crime. cannot pick and mix protests its either allowing them or not.

I understand The Judge stated that protests are allowed but these people went too far, describing them a ‘fanatics’.
I agree with the judge.

I agree with the judge.

he got it spot on. there is a big difference to protesting on a single subject that winds you up to someone who makes it their lifes work to protest.

If these people want to protest they should do so by cooperating with the police so that routes and deviations can be planned. Just turning up and bringing vast swathes of the country to a standstill putting ordinary people at risk and costing them wages and potentially their jobs should be dealt with swiftly by the police and courts.

I hope so.

The judge told them to prepare themselves for a prison sentence…..when the return to court in September….why not just bang them up now.
Although let them sweat for a couple of months beforehand

Came looking for comment on the sentencing.

I wonder what employers' thoughts will be for those with these convictions starting out their working years? Will they be seen as twats or martyrs?

They will get some cushy 'job' via their parents wealthy friends--maybe some 'influencing' on the side violin

I’d put them in charge of the oil for the heating boiler.

that will depend on what side of the original argument they are on.
