What a fantastic job this group of volunteers are doing. The amount of rubbish they collect is incredible. Without them the town would look like a tip. Well done and please keep going.

The biggest shock was when they did it round my way and the amount they found in a rural area.

Maybe it’s the litterers who should be put to shame.
Most of the litter around our way is from fast food packaging thrown out from cars from the age group who lectures everyone else about saving the planet.

Look at the shit state they leave music events after they've been.
Over indulged, not my job little shits, clearing up their own mess is below them.

Wasn’t there a scheme years ago where long term unemployed were ‘made’ to do work like this or their benefits were stopped, all the PPE was provided etc. It didn’t last long as most never turned up and others sold the PPE.

It probably didn’t work because of piss poor management….make it plain your benefits will stop soon shakes them up…..I was a union rep and attended several meetings on a project for such a scheme and the excuses given for not implementing it were coming thick and fast…one was that they could be stung by nettles or could trip over if asked to enter long grass…there’s a army of pen pushers and charity basket cases out their prepared to stifle initiatives of any kind.

As the prison population is so high why not put the low risk ones on this type of job. Otherwise its a waste of stagnant labour?

health and safety a good initiative at the outset that was highjacked by those you mention to mak it a complete joke. kids going on a school trip dressed like little construction workers. i just give up at times.
