How many of you thought Ald Ron would be bringing in one or two South Yorkshire club signings. He lives in his huge castle in Rotherham a stone throw from the two Steel Cities and just down the road from Barnsley & Doncaster sctatchinghead I am not complaining just wondering why sctatchinghead He is more popular in South Yorkshire than King Charles will ever be ruling the U.K. It only dawned on me during the night when once again I couldn't get to sleep banghead It's a bit of a strange one really...Any thoughts sctatchinghead

He took Rotherham up from 4th division to 2nd division in 2 years.
Remarkable achievement.
Could say he laid the foundations for them to raise there profile n Ambition. New ground n Doubled the crowds etc.
And I'm sure he wasn't bankrolled back in them days.
As for the great escape it didn't take long for that to get undone.
Funny old game Football.

He is not as popular as you think Mr Leggie. An absolute legend in Rotherham yes but Sheffield, Donny and Barnsley are a different kettle of fish.
A very good friend of mine bought his "castle" in Rovrum so It's you Ron Ron has moved, to I know not where.

its a yorkshire thing where they only love one of their own but not anyone else especially from another close town or city.

Rotherham were a regular second tier side for years. Their fans think that's where they should be, like Wednesday fans who in turn see themselves as a prem outfit. Yorkshire fans have delusions of grandeur but, funnily enough, they talk less about cricket these days in the so called land of the cricket ball.
Ronnie was a good servant of the club both as a player and then manager.
I would have thought he would have done a scouting job for them rather than us. I would dare bet he has recommended a few players to them and probably still does, if they are out of our sphere.
He has a great affinity with that club.

It's the same everywhere to be fair. Ronnie was born in Liverpool but Rotherham fans have him down as a Yorkie as they do when it suits them.

Its not Ronnies Yorkshire connections but more Sarrls Woking ones - im shocked that we have not brought in a former player of his. Surely he thought one of them would be good enough for us ? I know the Rohan Ince thing was supposedly a non starter but it did make ground to begin with so i was told. Still time for us to poach one of theirs but the lads they released i would of thought one would of been here by now.
Guessing Ronnie may have a few aces up his sleeve and we waiting on the end of this month deadline to pass when most players actually do become contract-less or some others decide to walk after negotiations breaking down. Agents are the buggers in all these deals and seem to get in the way. Id imagine Ronnie been the old school type and talk to player first etc...
Would be good if Rotherham had a gem in their pack and wanted some game time for him i.e a season loan deal.

If they do have such a gem then Ronnie will be aware of that but do they want the gem in the national league when they could probably take their pick of league two sides who will also be interested. It would be nice though.

and we see ourselves as a division 2 EFL club. In yorkshire now if you want to talk about cricket you need to find asian lads to talk to about it. the bradford league is the top league there and all teams have at least a 50/50 split between asian and white english playing in it when white english are still in the vast majority in the city.
