Apparently the football pitches in the Premier league and all top European leagues have " Desso " grass. I had never heard about this but apparently its 2 thirds plastic and 1 third grass sctatchinghead So basically a plastic pitch sctatchinghead

In my past life I was issued with a respirator of Finnish origin that was proof against ‘Biffo Gas’…never found out what it was, wonder if it’s a close relative…

think donny rovers and stockport have something similar. could be the reason why many pitches look better than ours nowadays and you see less and less bald patched ones at the end of a season.

If true about this type of grass how come the EFL will not allow 3g pitches yet if a team reached the promised land of the premiership they are then allowed to have a hybrid type of pitch, suggestions please .

This info came from GB news this morning. Some football expert was talking about the Euros and the rain etc. He said all the pitches are woven plastics and grass. He said it stops the bald patches and does not leave rain water on the surface. It's been used for 20 years in the Premier league and all top European top leagues including International games. He reckons that if you got hold of a handful of grass and pulled it out you would only have pulled out 3 or 4 blades of grass. It does beg the question of the bans on plastic grass though sctatchinghead

Just looked up the " desso " grass. It's says it's called Desso GrassMaster ( Hybrid Turf ) is a hybrid turf system that combines natural grass with artificial fibers to form an all-weather playing surface. It became popular due to its durability and low maintenance requirements.

Is Biffo gas the thing you smell when you go into a bookies on a warm summer afternoon?
