Peter Kioso sold to Oxford United and Pools to get about £5.00 from sell on fees?

since when has there been any speculation that we are about to sign an Marquee esq player ?

is it the Campbell rumour <<< wouldnt class that as marquee either ?

really hope its true as i think we are due at least one really good player in the side this season. Now specially we have offloaded the wages of 3 League wage packets in Hastie - Cooke and Umerah !

Decent signing for this level, had a couple of good years at Gateshead.

I'm happy to see him, but not Marquee signing, as said above.

Really hope he hits the ground running

That's well good enough for me like. He will be a superb signing for us.

See the predictable attempts to talk down this signing have already started

As a striker, Campbell scored better than a goal every 3 1/2 games in two seasons at Gateshead.

Last season he "transitioned into the number 10 role" to quote the Crawley OS and scored 7 in 45 league games as Crawley WON PROMOTION to League 1.

He's turned down their offer offer of a new contract to come here, a move that definitely won't have been done on the cheap.

Put it this way, if he'd signed for Oldham or another of Pools' promotion rivals it'd definitely be a marquee signing

Agreed. Find it baffling people saying it's not a Marquee signing. He turned down a contract offer for League 1 football after playing over 40 games for Crawley last season. He started all 3 of their play off games!

To be honest yeh... for this level and for us the way things have been .. i suppose it is.

I suppose he has just turned down a L1 side to come play here. He should be absolutely lethal for us up top with Mani D. Its a statement and its a massive step in the right direction under this new gaffa ! Hoping more of this to come ! Well done Raj and those involved !

What’s this marquee signing all about. Mainly from the doomsayers. To sign a real marquee player you will have to pay a substantial fee plus high wages and we know that will not happen. Just be pleased at the signings so far.

Decent signing if he's not Manny Ds replacement.
Hopefully not and that's a cracking front line.

Save ya breath Hogan, Already been touted as a replacement cause someone is leaving, Or hes had a couple of good seasons.
Let me, you and the rest enjoy what is an excellent signing.

If someone else had signed him, They would be up in arms, Claiming a lack of ambition.
Wears ya down after a while does whinging.

To get a player to turn down a League 1 contract at our level is pretty darned good and shows a level of intent or ambition, particularly given that a number of league clubs were interested.
Potentially a good signing and sounds as if he can play just behind the front 1 or 2 or even wide. Hope he can do the business for us.

Potential is there to cause mayhem this season and there will be more to come, I think.

Technically you could say that fans don't have a freedom of speech to say what the want, if you don't agree with their views.

Adam Campbell played for us in 2014, 2 games only, while on loan from Newcastle. So I have the balls to say, not a Marquee singing for me.. IN MY OPINION only.

You like everyone else has opinions and I believe I am correct in saying you have every right to voice them on the bunker. We will never all agree but why should we sctatchinghead Your opinion is as valid as the next person's. Not sure what your meaning is behind the 2 games he played 10 years ago aged 19 yrs and still learning his trade. sctatchinghead

Still waiting from the Doomsters posting ‘ well done Raj for backing the manager’ Fully agree I wouldn’t call it a marquee signing just a very promising one.

I get many many things wrong on here and when I do I say so. That's the reason I respected Eiphos for saying what he did. And not because he agreed or disagreed but simply for having the " balls " to change his opinion.

My point is that he played for us before. To me a Marquee singings are like Waterfall and Parkes, players who are big names in the leagues and make a difference. Unfortunately Campbell was bog standard all season for Crawley, even though the won promotion to league one.

Or was he in the French resistance…nah that would be a Maquis signing.

Fantastic marquee signing.

A player who is in some of the best form of his career, performing exceptionally well at a level higher than ours and someone who was in high demand - had an offer of at least one league club on the table, be amazed if there weren't other league clubs offering him a contract.

He's flexible, scores goals, creates and doesn't seem to be injury prone.

Really not sure what more people want.

Everyone knows Raj doesn't sell players without a huge offer. Therefore we will start the season with Mani D, Grey and Armstrong - fantastic.

Bog standard sctatchinghead Not according to the Crawley supporters not according to the Crawley manager who played him in all 3 playoff games and most of the promotion season sctatchinghead A few fans said he was more consistent in the first part of the season but bog standard sctatchinghead In this division he probably is a Marquee signing at least most on here appear well happy  But that's football for ya we all have different opinions which is fine by me.

I would put Grey ahead of Charman -- I think Grey has bags of potential and could be a big player for us

A lot of things can happen in a season including injuries etc, but the good news is we at least seem to be recruiting coherently and not slapdash which is a big change from recent years

IF we keep the players we have and IF the key ones stay fit we should have a better season than last year--Still looking for a goalie, and another midfielder/wide fwd IMO, as well as a back up for Mani D

Grey came on leaps and bounds maybe because he had more game time. He needs a big season this year, got the potential to be a really good player.

Now is the time to be talking with Manni D and Joe Grey about extending their contracts for goodness sake do not let them run down as has been done in previous years .

I think for the past few seasons we were buying job lots of pick n mix players and hoping to find the Willi Wonka gold ticket player in the pile.

the marquee signing is usually a striker or an attacking midfielder who is a bit of a household name but possibly years past their prime who the club is paying silly wages on them. i for one are totally happy with all our signings especially if they come off.

grey is not the same player we had in august to the one who finished the season. he,d be in my starting 11 even if he is not totally the finished product. needs a contract extension if he carries on in the same vein of form as the club could make a big transfer money with him.

Who have we sold for a huge offer?
Most of our decent players leave for free when they decline a new contract offer!

Maybe what's meant is that Raj has turned down offers for players that haven't met his valuation - like he does when anyone shows an interest in buying the club

Who have we sold for a huge offer?
Most of our decent players leave for free when they decline a new contract offer!

Maybe what's meant is that Raj has turned down offers for players that haven't met his valuation - like he does when anyone shows an interest in buying the club

Didn't know we had any players worth multi millions. bbolt

The recruitment has been very professional for me and seems someone in the club knows what they are doing.

the type of recruitment id of expected us to make in the league if im honest - if we get this GK in and also Tinkler we will be absolutely quality !

its been looked at properly - you can tell hes building the right side and knows what is needed to attack this head on and get results. I felt our last recruitment was more geared towards just surviving and taking part - this time we look like we want to go and win it

I'm all for pre season optimism.
Happens every summer since football was invented.
Proof will be in the pudding though as we are going to find out.
Hopefully back to the Efl forever.

We sign a few players particularly Campbell yesterday and the board seems chilled out today. None of use are giving others any grief and I can't remember the last time that happened on here. Think it goes to show we all love Hartlepool United and we do not have to agree on signings etc. Kev gets it right when he says this time of year we get a little excited but the proofs in the pudding.
