oh well if he gets us promoted in the first season then jobs a goodun. Ill worry about life back in the EFL when it happens.

highly doubt this man will get us relegated hes too good of a manager for that and wouldnt of took the job knowing he only has pennies to work with even if the budget isnt the greatest. What we have to remember is we are free of all the shite and some top earners off the wage bill.

Struggling with an injury crisis...signing older players with poor injury records who flopped...it all sounds like a re-run of the last season at the Vic! The big difference is Sarll blew his playing budget on players who didn't perform as well as the people he replaced. The Pools flops last season were on short-term loans trying to plug gaps in a too small, injury hit squad.

I hope for all our sakes Sarll reverts to signing younger, fitter players who can play a high press - something I can't recall ever seeing a Pools' side do. Never seen a team at any level who can keep it up for more than 45 minutes, but worth it if you go in with a decent half time lead.

Me Too!

The views of Woking fans will not influence me in any way, Just wanted to post some of their views each to their own, So to speak.

I,m pretty sure, But not certain when weve played his teams in the past they were really physical types.
Which what ive been crying out for.

I'm just going to wait and see, like I would have done with KP still in charge and what I always do.
What I would like to see is a squad capable of competing in the promotion race and subsequently doing so.

As I live in Woking, I do visit them about half a dozen times a season. This is usually combined with the hospitality offering and we have the opportunity to mingle with the monied/ sponsors that actually care about the club. Overall, they were very happy when Sarrll joined and steered the club clear of relegation worries. He was then handed, reportedly, the biggest playing budget the team has ever had. This got them a playoff place (which they blew) and then the subsequent 23/24 season blew up big time. He was fired and the replacement manager steered them clear of relegation. Nothing out of the ordinary cycle of managers being successful initially followed by recruitment issues. Some times it works out, sometimes not. I'll start the season with hope more than expectation..

Sounds like a one season wonder but if he has one good season here he would of worked miracles. He will soon find out managing woking was a breeze compared to this job, with a hell of a lot more expectation and pressure on him as well.

like anyone learning their trade - we learn from our mistakes. Lets hope that Sarrls recruitment is a little different from when he got it wrong last time. Lets not forget there is an assistant manager whom is a fitness coach by trade to help on the matter and not just that... id presume the majority of signings will be coming from the experienced Ronnie Moore and also some spotted by Joe. not all DS signings will be his id presume although he no doubt will always give the nod on any playing joining no matter whos brought them to the table.

big problem nowadays is finding any player who has not had long periods out with injuries. how many outfield players are about who regularly are available season after season for 46 league games. when players used to kick lumps out of each other you never saw the lists of injured players across so many clubs like you do now and it isn,t just pools.

True, but back in the day when players were kicking lumps off each other they could get away with far lower levels of fitness. Every club right up to the top division had a drinking culture (that was never just the odd pint  ) and a lot of them were smokers. Players like Colin Todd were almost considered freaks for their dediction to keeping fit.

In the current Pools side David Ferguson and Nicky Featherstone have been the ones who miss the fewest games through injuries and it was probably a factor in both of them being offered new contracts (which Fergie hasn't signed yet...)

When Feaths rejoined Pools last October he hadn't had a pre-season and must have been keeping himself fit on his own. That didn't stop him from playing 33 consecutive league games and only being subbed once! Mind you, he was visibly knackered by the last few games and should have been given a rest - if Pools had had a fit midfielder to replace him.

surely something has to give across the game where more and more clubs are having an injury crisis thats happening either on training grounds or non contact injuries. one minute there is talk about clubs having a duty of care to players who are then trained as far as there bodies can take to attempt to get an edge on fitness. even fans require that if their side constantly drop points late in games from a winning position. its more or less winning and promotion at all costs from fans up to owners and anything else just isn,t acceptable anymore.
