Good move imo.
At times he was the only balanced head on the pitch and if that can be taken into a coaching role that would be great.

I agree. Sweens is stale and needs a new challenge. Featherstone is an obvious candidate to start a coaching career,

I knew this would happen tbh - hopefully gets his testimonial at the end of the season too.

Will be good to have him on the pitch as a coach too - might have a bit more of a license to suggest things to DS to shake things up too.

I just hope Sarrl can use him in the coaching role to our benefit

Money in football is like sones in quicksand, it get’s swallowed up.
If people want money for new players etc, it’s got to come from somewhere.

Next time maybe share any inside information before the fact rather than after it? ;) Or was it just a hunch?

This was as much of a Hunch at first due to conversations i have with my man in the know - but i was told yesterday morning that these 2 had come in and Feaths had signed his dual role.

Let’s hope he does more coaching than playing next year

I find it funny people on social media saying no-one knows if Sweeney is a good coach, then praising Featherstone’s appointment.

Featherstone looks like a …’compromise’…maybe he’s more amenable than Sweeney, ain’t gonna rock the boat.

Not sure I'd ever have tagged Feaths as 'amenable.' More the typical Yorkshireman, his natural expression is looking disgruntled.

Baffling isnt it. How on earth does anyone know if sweeney is good or not? Graeme lee was a bad manager according to most goes elsewhere does well, maybe sweeney has the same potential. Been a great servant to pools.

You might have a point there, the Wife’s lot on both sides come from two villages near Thirsk, she has a disgruntled look….and six fingers. bbolt

Baffles me the way some people are going on as if Featherstone is a straight swap for Tony Sweeney's role. Feaths hasn't hung up his boots and will need to focus on his own fitness and game as well as coaching. The new Assistant Manager Carl Dickinson is still a young bloke and is bound to be pretty hands on with the coaching too - particularly with the defence. That's something Pools have badly needed over the last couple of seasons and he could be a very good appointment.

When KP was brought in as Head Coach he had Sweeney to work with and 76-year-old Lenny Lawrence as his "Full-time Assistant" Doubt Len did much running about and it's not clear what his duties did include (assassin?). Anyway, great to see auld Len remains on the payroll "in a supporting role and as mentor to the football staff." That's one less wage for a player.

he will like when clubs sign a player/manager who rarely plays much as the season goes on.
