This for me will play into the hands of those that can afford the bigger squads. This will change the whole dynamic now for this league. It also will help us massively if we can actually fill the 7 spaces. 5 subs during a match is madness but it wins games and makes the game easier for those in a fortunate position to have quality on the bench. Said loads this season that should or could we of had the 5 subs it would of helped us massively !
Guessing we will see the academy lads alot more now

its all down to the quality of the subs and not the quantity. there will certainly be clubs who will fill the bench with players they,ll have no intention of playing from the outset. they,ll fill it to give the impression that they are not struggling for players and making the opposition a bit more confident than they might have been. then where will that affect recruitment. cannot see any club increasing there playing budget due to it but more of a case of it having to go further on more players if they do not trust the kids at the club.

Considering we dont have a reserve side this at least gives us the option to give squad players competitive game time when circumstances are right.

Had to laugh, when my Missus, who follows SARFend informed me of this last night -
my immediate response was 'Kin ell- your lot struggled to name 2 for a big chunk of last season' - Even she saw the funny side, and I still got my tea!

As in every division up to and including the Prem, the changes are going to give a small advantage to clubs with strength in depth. Not much point in packing a bench with players of whatever age if they aren't up to the same standards as the starting 11.

That's been Pools' main problem the season just gone because of the ridiculous number of injuries we had. Can count on one hand the number games we had a strong looking bench.

Least we can guarantee a sub GK and also Stephenson and some of the youth setup a place on the bench. Meaning they spend more time training with the mens team etc..
If we can get the starting 11 right first this is just a bonus for us to maybe have a CF and winger on the bench to change games. Then have your emergency CBs etc always on the bench without risk of using up a space for said other types of players. Makes sense even more at our level for me.

you mean like the ones teams make after the 4th official puts up his board showing the time added on at the end of the game. suppose it suits those who see it as a squad game nowadays and not picking the important thing like playing your best 11 who are available from the start.

I agree with the comment that it will give some experience of the bench to some young players and maybe an opportunity to play.

I reckon those with some pennies will now change their recruitment strategy because of this. York and FGR ... maybe Alty etc

Imagine losing to solihull and they have 5 subs to change, game will be stop start as it is, let alone allowing these sides to make 5 changes.

image though if it went back to the days of no substitutes. pools would finish some games either just having 8 or 9 on the pitch or playing walking football due to the injuries we regularly get.
