Me too, surprised to see his release. Is it age or a sudden lunge into the injury prone bracket.

Think he's the only one I'd bother looking at out of that list- always seems to cause us problems whenever he's played against us- think he may have scored a couple too

That said HOUSE is always a good shout........

I would imagine most Sutton players (& Woking for that matter) are London based, so why would they want to re-locate to the North East?

Good point Gray. He will also know all these players very well, so won't take a lot of persuasion for him to get players to join him at a bigger club.

His wife is from the North East. She could have elderly parents who she could relish being close to.

If you happened to be a young player released by a "bigger club", would you rather play for former Premier star striker Kevin Phillips or journeyman manager Mr Sarll?

I think that is a great point Ozzy- and was the main reason why I thought we'd have a better chance of holding onto our better players as well as being able to recruit better quality this summer.

It is very bizarre - akin to sacking Lee one game before the end of the season - then waiting all summer to appoint Hartley, who then signed a shed load of shite that we're only now getting shut of. Really hope this doesn't go the same way- particularly given that Sarrl was axed by Woking in November after losing 8 in 10 games

Suppose it highlights just how powerless, we fans are- as NOBODY saw this coming at 3pm after the Dorking game.

Big diff is it took
Months to get Hartley whereas we got Sarll straight away, he may be good he may be shite but at least there was a plan in place

His wife is from the North East and he’s spends a lot of time up here as she has family up here, he’s well acquainted with the area.

We didn’t get him straight away, this has been going on for months.
In fact it sounds like Raj has finally left it to others to sort it out in the end, because I suspect he’d have given Phillips the job….and I suspect regretted it.

or agree to the best offer you get. its so long since phillips was a premier league star they most likely have never seen him play and its just a name in the history books.

all just names to me but they might be released because of a knee jerk reaction of being relegated. have always said that we should look at players from relegated sides down to our level plus the promoted ones who might feel some of theirs are not up to a higher division.

Very shocked by them letting go Eastmond and Beautyman like. They both very instrumental for them but seems last season not so much.
Be still top players at this level and im sure someone will snap them both up. Im sure N'Guessan is a player too and that Lee Angol always had good games against us. I reckon a few of those would walk into our team just now.

My own thoughts are it took months to get Sarll also.

The fact the retained list is out now is proof that this has been going on for several months.
