Our first signing for me will be a massive statement as to how the recruitment will pan out under Sarrl.

It could either end up being a knacker journeyman whom Sarrl favours
or some kid no one has heard of.
Orrr...

technically Featherstone with a new contract ...

Spot on Eiphos  We definitely need the first to be a statement signing.

Big signing they do not come much bigger than Tomas Holy 6ft 9in keeper at Carlisle has played in the championship for Ipswich available on a free. Was their keeper when promoted from League 2 .

Parkes and Waterfall were a statement of intent that we were serious about shoring up our defence. Nobody was doubting that before they even saw them play. We need a load more of this type of signing, a LOAD more. What we've usually had is very doubtful players with dubious history. Far more often than not (after heeding the optimists call to wait and see them actually play) we've been right with the doubts.

You doubt everything, probably even have doubts about yourself, you’ll end up demanding your own removal from the board as you think you’re just not good enough and end up voting yourself out.

Behave, nowt up with giving a bloke a chance and how could anybody know what a player is like until they’ve seen them play.
Unless they’re God…… and he’d probably know as he actually is …..God, and not a Doubting Thomas.

Of course it's just me being doubtful Snowy, we've never made any signings that have been underwhelming at the time and have proven to have been underwhelming once they've pulled the shirt on too. In fact the only thing that would give my comments credibility is if this had happened dozens and dozens of times over recent years. Well... thank goodness that's not the case or else we would have been grubbing away in lower mid table for much of the season.

Actually read and digest my post. Firstly it gives credit for Parkes and Waterfall being the kind of signings we needed at the time and we went out and bloody well made them. They were OBVIOUSLY decent signings. Time after time, agter expressing how underwhelming signings have seemed, we've been dismissed in here and told to wait and see. You yourself did this quite a lot in the Hartley era. We waited, we saw and in the vast majority of cases, were disappointed.

I didnt speculate on whether or not we would make good ambitious signings, only that it'll likely be pretty bloody obvious as soon as players start coming through the door, based on previous years.

We're starting in a much better place this time, most of the dross have gone or hopefully will soon be. Plus we've got Waterfall, Parkes, Dodds, Mancini, Grey, Mani D - that's 6 who you'd imagine will be starting and doing very well if they can stay fit. Also just to highlight we actually signed 5 of those decent players.

It's all there in place for Raj to turn a corner with this club. I'm waiting to be impressed by our transfer business. Good job it's a tournament year, close season seems boring otherwise.

Hmm, fitness is key
Mancini and Dodds both coming back from injury, Parkes and waterfall knocking on with the former not having a great injury record

There is definitely the core of something decent there but all about who we get in midfield
