Appointed Birmingham City manger his 8th managerial appointment 9 if you count his caretaker spell at Ipswich, I don’t recall anyone having so many managerial jobs ?

It's the old saying that you get promoted from the job you can't do.

Although LL, when you add Manager & Assistant Manager roles together surpasses Mowbray's total. As they say LL has had more clubs than Tony Jacklin.

Most Sunderland fans speak highly of Mowbray. It's sometimes more a case of unrealistic owner expectations that anything else.

Mowbray was doing a great job at Sunderland but obviously something went on behind the scenes.

What hasn't gone on behind the scenes recently.

He was only ever considered to be a short term appointment when their manager walked out and whilst they looked for a manager who met the owners profile. Young upcoming innovative, fitting in with their model of developing young talent etc. He over achieved in his first season meaning the owner didn't want the flack from supporters of removing him then. He did particularly well with their young squad when you consider the lack of proven or really any strikers or height in the team to take advantage of set pieces. They played some excellent football on the deck. Despite giving him another season 7th at Christmas or whatever it was wasn't good enough and gave the owner an excuse, the owner grew impatient and wanted a change. Not all supporters will agree with his choice. Mowbray off to Birmingham to steady the ship there and probably knows the same will happen there eventually but it's a decent job for him. There's no more to it than that.

Not bad considering they were league 1 not long back. They might regret that decision. Got to say against newcastle ive never seen such a feeble derby defeat. Never laid a glove on the geordies.

In 7th they’re nicely tucked in behind the front runners who’ll be running themselves ragged to achieve top spot and keep it, but it’s only who was in the top places on the final days that count.
