I know I started a thread saying he should go and his sacking was inevitable, but sad it’s come to this.
Seemed like a genuinely decent bloke who tried his best without any self aggrandizing
I hope he pitches up somewhere else and does well.

I know he signed the majority of them but really hope the players look
At themselves, they aren’t as bad as we have been playing and they have cost a decent bloke his job. None of them give the impression they really care that much which sums it up, most of them should feel ashamed

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Yes could luck John. Very difficult circumstances with all the injuries but football is a result driven business

yes good luck but results should be looked into the context of how they have happened. we lost yesterday with a scratch team out with paterson replacing our only striker. is that result a worse one that going to oldham with a fully fit squad, them with a scratch team out and we won by a fluke goal against the run of the play.

I’m waiting to see how the players react, as all that really counts to me now is getting points.
Managers come, managers go, just like players….and owners.

I'm sure he'll get fixed up with a football coaching/managing job (if he wants to) in 2024. Good luck to him anyway...

Totally agree. With better luck on the injury front I am sure he would still be with us. I have no doubt he will quickly get another job; he is too good to be left on the tip.

I personally think he should have been gone at the end of October/November when he started saying about players not doing what he's asked them to do.
Time for the players to step up and be accountable for their actions.

He's gone but Pools have still got an entire back four - Dodds, Seaman, Hendrie, Lacey - out injured that haven't been available for months. Not to mention Mattock who came in on loan, looked decent and immediately got crocked.

Then there's Crawford, Mani D and now Umerah also out.

If the injury luck turns Pools might look half decent again by February - enough to pull away from the releagation places at least.

All the best to John Askey. And New year's greetings to Raj who like us all has made mistakes but without him no HUFC.

and someone new will get all the plaudits when that happens and some will continue to blame askey himself for the injuries.

If what I'm about to say makes any sense at all, then may I state that I AM shocked that I am NOT shocked by Askey getting his P45.

I remember being part of a baying mob a few weeks short of my 15th birthday demanding "Barker out" - and being delighted when the old twat finally fucked off.

Later on, Gary "He's big, he's fat, and doesn't pay his VAT" Gibson made me very "Proud to be a Poolie."

It's a funny old game Saint...

Funny how a skeleton squad down to the bare bones, wondering if they’ll have a job in a week’s time and expecting the club to collapse, have enough fight, character and determination to battle on.
Puts our big girls blouses to shame.
