Best wishes to him and all cancer sufferers. Lost his Dad, Mam, and had all the shit from Harry in a short time and now this. Not easy to cope with for any family.

If only everyone had teams of Harley street doctors on call.

He’s a shite king, we should have had Queen Anne.

The news has been on for an hour repeating the same thing……I cracked and got the wife to turn it over, couldn’t take anymore….not his fault but the media flog these events to death.

I wonder if he was thinking earlier today "bloody hell, I've waited 70 years, surely I can have a few years before young Billy takes over the throne"

At least it’s got Kate Garraway off the news. The only woman ever to have suffered a bereavement.

its just one news item that in todays world is largely unimportant to most people. there will be thousands of others going through the same today who are more important to there friends and family who will not get the same treatment or an early diagnosis either.

A very good friend of mine died 15 minutes into 2024 aged 66 years old, cancer, he had a successful operation to remove a tumour on his bowel over 2 years ago. They then spotted specks on his liver, he was back and forward to Newcastle for 2 years umpteen scans, no decision was ever reached on treatment until it was too late, he collapsed last October, the cancer had spread to his brain, told 3/6 months to live, inoperable. Why was treatment never started, they spotted it early, they talked about it plenty of times but deep down did the Consultant know it was a lost cause ?

it is a case of your life in their hands and we have to trust that they will do everything within their power to make us better. However they are just as human as the rest of us and will make mistakes through a variety of reasons. They also sometimes have to prioritise and that could cause winners and losers. Perfection can be strived for but it is never guaranteed. Because the king went in for one complaint, he is now faced with another, perhaps more deadly. However he is lucky that the new complaint has been identified before it might have been, thus giving him a better chance of beating it. Sometimes it is down to luck like that.
I wish him well.

The King is one of the lucky ones, he can afford private health care, why doesn’t he show compassion and go on the NHS waiting list like the rest of us ?

I don't know why as he doesn't confide in me. Why don't you write to him and ask him yourself.
But you've really answered your own question "he can afford private health care"

The other "King" Barry John sadly passed the other day. So soon after JPR.
Rugby Union will always be my favourite sport and these gentlemen along with Gareth Edwards got me hooked.
RIP

that could be one of the reasons we still have a monarchy and people give them a free ride. they do not ask for all this publicity. just wonder how many royals would react though if they got zero publicity from the media and we were as interested in them as we are someone living the other side of town we have never met.

He could have stayed in London where, I presume, his Doctors are, but no he's buggered off to Sandringham for an extended holiday.

Poor Doctors, no doubt, have to travel up there by car, whilst Charlie Boy flies up there by Helicopter.

Don't think so, they went straight over to him in Hong Kong (probably over there dodging tax.or boring them silly) for his opinion where he simply repeated what somebody had said 5 minutes earlier but using slightly different words

Drove into Sandringham in 1996 had a walk around the outside of the house and sat in a fancy Dan pergola in the ground covered in tiles….me, the wife and our seven years old daughter drove to go out and found coppers on the gate….stopped us, wanted to know what we were doing…told them the gates were open with signs pointing where to go an no one on the gate….he looked at his mate and said ‘Clear off’.
