He will be playing for a new contract or a move to another club.

I can only recall two goals scored by Hastie in competitive matches both this season and both games were defeats. I wonder if this trend can be reversed?

I was at the Barnet game when he came on when we were 3 down and he made a difference. He is a big lad with pace and when he is on his game he gives defenders a hard time.

Always said he was a good player, but was always shot down in flames by others. 3 goals now. Admittedly he may not do anything else for the rest of his career

I was there too. He's always looked good in my opinion.

I believe he CAN be a good player, I guess consistency is the issue.

Barnet away end was very good, wasnt it? Good facilities decent seats and the sausage sandwiches were delicious although expensive.

Paterson had a good game - was an all round good team performance.

Don't really give a toss about York's late consolation goal - it came too late to cause any palpitations. Cooke and Wallace both ran out of steam, which let York back into the game late on, but considering how long they've been out they did great. Cooke for me is the one making the difference - he's very confident on the ball and it's rubbing off on the likes of Crawford.

he was totally crap last season and deserved everything thrown at him. however this season his scoring must be the highest of anyone per minutes he has been on the pitch. he could easily have had more than the 3 scored as well. for me even his performances last season were as good as wrehs this.

Hastie took his goal like a seasoned striker and, until he ran out of steam, was a major contributor. There is a player in there so hopefully he'll get better with games and cement his place in the side.

Canny little interview with Jake Hastie on the OS. In hindsight, his brush with fame being signed by Rangers did him no favours at all. Playing for Pools under Hartley he soon got the 'Wastie' tag because he looked unfit and uninterested, so it was a surprise to hear John Askey praise him for his attitude and hard work when he wasn't getting anywhere near the side.

Hearing him talk, you get the impression he's a typical confidence player, one who will do a lot better getting encouragement from the terraces rather than jeers.

Yep I have always thought he is the type of player who is at his best when the team is playing well, as you say a confidence player.

He should of had 3/4 goals on Tuesday night too - literally whiskers away with 2 and their keeper made some good saves.

its Mani D who needs the drugs test after those 2 sitters (maybe 3) he also missed. The second where Fergie crossed the ball in for him could of been put away simply by leaning his body onto the ball and walking it over the line - he choose the acrobatic slow motion effort which fell right on top of a very lucky goal keeper, again had the luck this season been with us, we would have walked away from that game 5-0.

the main plus is that he is there to miss the chances. the only problem with him is that he needs all these chances to actually score. if he didn,t he would not be a national league player and would be plying his trade a lot higher up than at pools.

100% this is true - this is the big difference between making it in the higher levels of football. You have to take your chances and make sure you pot them all ! Given i still think Mani D would operate just fine in the EFL (which is the scary thing come January). His hold up play and skillset are really good for this level for me. Put it this way there was worse plying their trade in that league last season and are still there now !

That's true. Is there anybody who uses The Poolie Bunker doesn't know how to get onto the OS? After all, it's easier to access than the Bunker itself as no password is required - unlike 'The Ripper & Monkeybutt Forum.'

On the other hand, I've had to register for X (Twitter) just to see the stuff that yer man at HUFC doesn't put on the OS, like the matchday team an hour before kick-off. Not too happy about that, but I've managed to ignore all the other crap that X tries to direct my attention to. The other day I got a nice invitation to pay to join their premium subscription service

Dunno. Grimsby didn't sign him when they got promoted to League 2 despite him scoring 5 times for them in a short loan spell, including goals in the play-off games against Notts County and Wrexham. Tranmere released him at the end of that season and he ended up signing for Halifax - it's hard to believe Grimsby couldn't have made him a better offer if they really wanted him.

Maybe National League strikers aren't as much in demand as some imagine? Anyway, Marcus Dinanga at Gateshead has got to be ahead of Mani as a potential target - he's 3 years younger and has already got 19 goals to Mani's 12.

If you ever listen to any Scottish footballer being interviewed it’s part of their vocabulary, to be honest most footballers all their quotes are similar in an interview, even Askey is always repeating himself.

think we all have a few quirks in conversations we do not know we have and repeating words and phrases writing stuff on here. do not read many fiction books but you can have an idea who has written them if you did not know.

This is for you Jamie - another interview with Jake Hastie, this time on Radio Tees

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0gvmtck

I'd say Jake's "definitely" count is definitely down, whereas Tom Crawford is a bit free with the "obviously's" in his interview on the OS. Still, back in the day all we heard was "err...err" and "ye knaa" so footballers' vocabularies must be improving

if only they could inject a bit of humour in the interviews it would be better. same for managers. its all too too serious nowadays giving the impression of em all being so dull which will be far from the truth.

I used to enjoy watching Kevin Keegan interviewed - as he loved a 'yaa know'
Slightly more annoying but just as prolific was the Steven Gerrard, 'Full Credit'

I don’t Pools have much to joke about of recent, then gain some of Pools performances have been a joke this season, Askey always looks very stern bit like a headmaster.

When you’re in the brown stuff that’s when humour helps, I can vouch for that, a good laugh lifts the spirits.

Hastings isn't a wing back, he's an old school winger and had a decent first half yesterday. He also seems to be a confidence player and his performance dropped off accordingly.
Unfortunately the right back signings Dodds and Hendrie have both been injured.

I might be clinging at straws, i think Hastie has been a bit of fresh air recently in this team, something different, thought he did quite well and was positive at times, but once the team goes to pieces, he drifts out. Think with dodds he would look way better.

exactly. he wasn,t signed in the first place for his defensive ability like defenders are not signed for attacking.

I never thought id be praising the lad but yes he has been a breath of fresh air - he found space and runs at times at the weekend but our crab of a midfield never bothered to look any further than the yards around them to make the pass. Thats the difference at any level for a midfielder for me. The ability to see and make a pass. Hastie at times was miles ahead of his other team mates in his thinking (this is probs that raw ability we expected coming from such a club as Rangers). He just needs to graft a little harder and not be pushed off the ball as easy and i think we may have another situation come the end of the season where we dont want the lad to leave !

it does show how much of a mess the club was in during the hartley months regarding training. it must have been a real joke and a boom time for the lazy or those who dislike training. it cannot be a coincidence that we saw improvements first with murray and now hastie after they left. even patterson has decent games now but unfortunetly he cannot repeat his performance in the next game.
