Anyone seen this video?
A documentary on the lead singers of The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre
Pure entertainment in the ridiculous, hysterical, damned and distressing rock n roll fashion. Thats the best thing I've watched in a long long time.
I might be ten years behind here or something, I know - and I wasnt a fan of The Dandies, never had any of their stuff. But this is class.
I need to find out something about the music of BJM and their singer Anton cos how a singer and band can be so fucking brilliant and then collapse into mental health and drugs induced violence and idiocy or full on rant on the crowd the very next second makes some viewing.
Know nothing of BJM's records and understand they could be fucked up drug records or talent and excitment never realised but would appreciate comments if anyone has any.
And if you havent seen the film, then it really is Spinal Tap, the reality, better music and much funnier.

While you're chucking Domino out of the window, glue United 93 to it as well.

Unless you want 30 mins of 'atmospheric' silence followed by an hour of Americans weeping and praying and trusting in 'Gaaarrrrdddd,' and telling anyone who'd listen that they lurrrve 'em. Crap, even if that IS how it happened.

The Dandy Warhols are a bloody marvellous band, never seen that documentary but I'm told it's great viewing.

And if you watch the documentary Kev, you'll see how The Brian Jonestown Massacre seemed to have more talent and definitely had more excitment, turning up at a gig not knowing if they were going to be fantastic, awful or descend into violence. The Dandy Warhols, however, had so much money pumped into them it was obscene. The videos were so over-produced and glossy and the record company spent so much money on desperately trying to break them as the next big thing they completely ruined the natural progression of a band who certainly could play.

That is how I heard it also. Since then though BJM have come through quite nicely though and the documentary gave them a massive push.
