When taking into account the division we are in and the fact the
Oppo was part time ?

I only saw the first 25 mins or so (when we were obviously better)
But that capitulation is ridiculous

More bodies needed in midfield for sure and a right back who can defend will help along with Ferguson playing in his right place.

ps you’ve made your fucking point Askey , yes Umerah was stupid to get sent off but stop putting him behind Grey and Hastie in the pecking order, that’s self inflicted stupidity

Wondering if Umerah is fully fit? Maybe didnt wanna risk him on the plastic surface? When I saw him at Barnet he looked a bit laboured and during moments when the ball was dead (preparing for a corner for example) he looked as if he could hardly walk at times. Just wondering has he got a niggle that has to be managed? If not it seems crazy he hardly gets on the pitch.

Worst defeat?…….Depends how long you’ve been watching Pools?
Colchester at home in the early eighties my five year olds first match, that was bad, in fact there’s been loads.
Bad result, you get mad, you calm down, life’s goes on shit happens.
It’s football, no one died.
Tomorrow’s another day.
By the way, do you know Askey is punishing Umerah?

Think it was Chorley we lost to, at home in the FA Cup mid 80's for me.

I said before the match that I'd have took a draw on the plastic today.

I wasn't at the game today as didn't fancy the drive in the searing heat - god knows what it would have been like running about on astro in those temperatures. Surely the lads who put in sliding challenges will potentially have burnt themselves on that surface. Just not conducive to playing professional football on in those temperatures. Ok they have a lot of them in Scotland but the weather is far worse in general and they're mainly pub team standard.

That's not to excuse the collapse in the 2nd half but surely must have been a significant factor on the hottest day of the year.

We draw a line in the CRUMBS - and go again next Saturday. Just hope injuries haven't worsened because of the surface today.

Askey knows the short comings of the team, but let's just trust in him to get it right next Saturday. Hopefully with a couple of additions to the squad (if you're reading this Raj)?

Thinking about it, post half hour rant, in retrospect I have a feeling this was a one off. The naive expectation amongst some that we should march through the league unblemished is a fantasy, shit happens and anyone who can’t cope with upsets along the way should be in a Tiddlywinks Winks league to save their blood pressure.

I blamed Shearer….having the brass neck to go into their dressing room and gee them up…never liked the bloke.

They want shot of him, a player that scored quite prolifically in this league last time, should be our focal point not a bench warmer.

Their supporters were utter twats, was going round Church Square after the match and their coaches were going around as they had to and they were trying to get off the coaches ..about 86/87…… looked like a a category A prison riot in motion on the coaches.

Pools v Walsall, 5-0 Westie scored one of theirs from a corner but he didn’t celebrate the goal.

Indeed it was Frickley Athletic. Think we beat Chorley the year before/after 2-0.
I was in short trousers back in those days - but could still recognise shite, when we'd been humbled. Think Billy Horner was in charge?

Doncaster at home they were top of the league and we close to the bottom. We winning 3-0 half time got beat 3-4 if my memory is correct. I am sure Snowy Accrington or Kev will be able to give better details.

Again not totally sure but I believe I read some years back that our biggest ever defeat was 13-1 against Barrow and our biggest ever win was 13-1 against Barrow maybe in the 50s sctatchinghead

Wasn't that end of August 1978, I remember my dad talking about that years later. :violin:

Fast forward to 2000, I was at the Mansfield game after going 1 down, getting on top 1-3 then 10 minutes before final whistle, we fall asleep and get beat 4-3.

Thanks for that Snowy. What was interesting in that game was me and a mate were in the rinkend near the wall to left of goal when the 4th goal was rolled in from outside the box and literally trickle in ...so much so we discussed if one of us should run on and kick the ball away. When I think back I have no idea why we didn't probably cas we both younguns rakxe
