Sad to hear tonight that former Steve Harper NUFC goalkeeper has suffered a stroke at the age of 48. Some Bunkerites will remember how he came on loan to Pools in 1997 when we were shite and played very well for us as I recall. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery Steve and thank you for what you did for us back then. If only we could have signed you and Micky Brown permanently. Ah well.

Very sad news and wish him a speedy recovery

I put him alongside Kevin Poole as the best Keepers we never owned, in my 40 years of following Pools. He was brilliant for us in a piss poor team.

Think he signed month to month for maximum of 4 months. Sure that was the season we had several loan keepers, Lance Key. Andy De Bont (who recently got sent to the Big House) and another whose name escapes me, under Houchen/ Mick Take!?

Top goalkeeper and top bloke. Had many a good night out at the Millennium with him Shay Given & Greame Lee. Wishing you a speedy recovery Steve.
